The Lexus LFA is designed and built like no other car in the world.Because of the unique nature of thismodel, you should be aware of certaincharacteristics and precautions dur-ing your ownership and operation ofthe vehicle. Key information is des-cribed here.

For further details on operating andmaintaining your vehicle, refer to theOwner’s Manual and the publicationentitled Inside the LFA (both found inyour glove compartment) as well asthe remaining information in thisbooklet.

Ground ClearanceKeep in mind the LFA’s limited groundclearance when operating or trans-porting the vehicle. See illustrationbelow.

BrakesBecause the LFA uses carbon ceram-ic material (CCM) brake discs withhigh-friction pads, you may hear thebrakes operating (e.g., a rubbing orsquealing sound). This is normal anddoes not indicate a malfunction.

Moderate wear to the LFA’s brakepads and discs allows enhancedbraking power. As a result, the brakediscs on the LFA may wear morequickly than conventional brakediscs. When replacing the brakepads, you should also have the thick-ness of the discs measured. It is dan-gerous to drive the vehicle whenwear limits of the brake pads and/ordiscs have been exceeded.

Note: If “BRAKE PAD WEAR” is displayed on the meter, the padsshould be replaced. The brake discsmay be damaged if the pads are notreplaced when needed.

Approach angle Break-over angle Departure angle

Minimum ground clearance: 4.3 in. (110 mm)

Note: All figures may vary depending on how vehicle is equipped.

*Racing precaution: Always wear safety belts. After ensuring vehicle is in proper operating condition andfollowing race-track safety practices, only race vehicle on a race track after undergoing proper training, taking appropriate precautions and complying with all legal requirements. Even on a race track, driversrace at their own risk with the understanding that accident and serious injury may result.

Carbon Ceramic Material(CCM) Brake DiscsBe careful not to subject the CCMbrake discs to any kind of strongimpact. Even if there is no obviousdamage, have the vehicle inspectedby your Lexus dealer if any of the following occur:

• The vehicle is involved in an accident that may affect the suspension or wheels

• The brake disc sustains animpact during the removal orinstallation of the wheels

• The brake pads have worn outand the metal part of the pad is in contact with the surface of the brake disc

Heat Treatment for BrakesFor maximum brake performance,heat-treated brake pads and heat-treated brake rotors are installed atthe factory. Replacement brake rotorsare heat treated. However, replace-ment brake pads are not heat treated.

When brake pads are replaced, brakeperformance is sufficient and stableunder normal driving conditions.

If maximum brake performance isrequired (e.g., for driving more than125 mph on a race track*), heat-treat-ment break-in of replacement brakepads is recommended after padreplacement. See your Lexus dealerfor details.

Washing and CleaningWhen washing and cleaning yourvehicle, follow the precautions indi-cated in the Owner’s Manual and thepublication entitled Inside the LFA (bothfound in your glove compartment). If these precautions are not followed, the vehicle may be damaged.

Lifting the WiperBefore lifting the wiper, make sure it isstopped near the upper reverse posi-tion. Do not lift the wiper if it is in theretracted position; this may damagethe wiper blade or front pillar fin.

Premium Master KeyThe premium master key for your LFAis a limited-production key made withcarbon-fiber trim. As a result, replac-ing this key will cost significantly morethan replacing a regular key. Pleasekeep this key safe. (For information on

Keeping Your Keys Safe Replacing keys for your vehiclecan be costly. For example, thepremium master key for the LFAis a limited-production key madewith carbon-fiber trim. As aresult, replacing this key will costsignificantly more than replacinga regular key.

We advise you to keep a sparekey and the key-number plate ina safe place. If you record the keynumber in more than one place,do not record it in a way that canbe easily identified and associat-ed with the vehicle. For example, don’t leave the number some-where that can be accessed by avalet. It is wise to keep a copy ofthe key number outside of thevehicle.

For further information on mainte-nance for your vehicle, see the“Maintenance” section of yourOwner’s Manual.

Maintenance Schedule

Engine CoolantWhen inspecting, visually check the engine coolant level on the see-through reservoir. Add coolant asnecessary. When replacing, drain the cooling system and refill withcoolant. Always use Genuine Toyota Super Long-Life Coolant or similar high-quality non-silicate, non-amine, non-nitrate, non-borateethylene-glycol coolant with long-lifehybrid organic acid technology (i.e., a combination of low phosphates andorganic acids). Check that the radia-tor is not blocked with leaves, dirt orinsects and clean if necessary. Alsocheck the hose connection for corro-sion or other conditions. A qualifiedtechnician should perform theseoperations.

Note: Initial replacement is at100,000 miles. Replace every50,000 miles thereafter.

Engine Oil and FilterReplace engine oil and oil filters at 24 months, or at 6,000 miles, orwhen the “OIL MAINTENANCEREQUIRED” message is displayed on the meter, whichever occurs first. When engine oil and oil filters arereplaced, reset the oil maintenancedisplay reminder.

Replace oil with SAE 5W-50 Mobil 1.If this oil is not available, another oil ofequivalent quality may be used. If analternate oil is used, do not start theengine if the engine coolant or oiltemperature is below 5° F (-15° C),and do not drive the vehicle underextreme load conditions.

Tire-Pressure Warning SensorsA tire-pressure sensor is mounted oneach wheel. These sensors do notrequire periodic maintenance.
