CHILDREN’S CHOIR: Our Children’s Choir for young singers entering grades 2 – 8, will be gathering to sing, beginning later this month! On Saturday morning, August 26th all interested members will meet from 9:30 – 11:30 in the church choir area. We’ll meet and greet each other, warm up our voices, and begin to learn music for the Fall Masses at which we will be singing. Regular rehearsals will be offered beginning on Au-gust 28th, on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:30 – 5:30 in the afternoon. The hope is that more children will be able to partici-pate with this choice of rehearsal day, and children only need to attend one or the other day. Those of you who signed up in June will be contacted directly by email, and others who are interested are encouraged to contact Music Director, Janet Edmondson at: [email protected]

Ron Bodkins, the facilities coordinator for almost the past 10 years, has accepted apposition at another employer and has ten-dered his resignation. We are very appreciative of all that Ron has done during his tenure here and we wish him well in his new position. We are currently beginning a candidate search for Ron’s replace-

ment and will let the parish know when the position is filled. In the

meantime, the staff, volunteers and contractors are doing some of

the work that Ron has been responsible for. Anyone interested in

helping out should contact Bill Brennan, Business Manager at the

church office. See page 7 for information on the position.

Please note that Tuesday, August 15, the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a Holy Day of Obligation. Masses will be celebrated in English at 12 noon and 6 pm and in Spanish at 7:30 pm.

Elementary RE and Children’s Church are hoping to fill some empty spots for leaders and helpers in our class-rooms! Are you looking for a way to get more involved in our parish. Meet new people? Share your faith? Change lives? You do not have to be a Catholic Theologian to teach our classes. Stepping in to the classroom is a great way to learn more about the faith! What better time than now?? We are also in need of aides (helpers) in both pro-grams. If you think this might be the year for you to step up and help, please contact Valerie at the office [email protected]. Most classes have multiple catechists and aides so it does not have to be a weekly commitment, unless you want it to☺ Elementary program is on Sundays from 11:30-12:40 Children’s Church is on Sundays during the 10:00

Religious Ed Snack Drive The Elementary RE program is hoping to be able to pro-vide snack each Sunday we have class for all of our stu-dents (over 200 each week). We are planning to hold a Snack Drive and looking for donations from our parish to help alleviate some of the expense. Our catechists have found that if they are able to feed the body, then the mind tends to focus better as well. We are looking for dona-tions of individual packs of Fruit Snacks, Goldfish crackers, Cheeze-Its or Cheese Nips and Rice Krispy treats. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated! There will be a collection box near the foyer beginning this weekend. We will be collecting through Labor Day weekend. (Sept. 3). If you aren’t able to help out in the classrooms, this is a great way to still be able to help out in this wonderful ministry for out children (and fabulous volunteers)!!! If you are interest-ed in making a monetary donation to our Snack Drive, please place it in the Sunday collection in an envelope clearly marked “Snack Drive”.

COMUNIDAD HISPANA
