Case Study

“I attended my first IFC in 2012. I had never been to a fundraising conference before, and I was so impressed with how generous the delegates were. I expected that from the speakers, but I didn’t expect that when we were having lunch or breakfast, or over a drink, that the conversation would continue and people would be so welcoming and open to solving problems together.

One of the sessions I attended was on peer-to-peer fundraising, and as a direct result of that, I was able to come back to my organisation and secure in the first year 50 entries into a bike race that raised about R60,000, which at the time was about £6,000 / $9,000.

That programme today raised over a million Rand (£53,000 / $69,000). It was entirely the result of going to IFC.”

Sarah Scarth, Former Fundraising and Communications Manager, Cape of Good Hope SPCA

“Following the learning from the IFC, I have produced a fundraising friendly website, case for support and strengthened the core essentials of fundraising, like organisational management and development, communication and prospecting and relation building.

This has helped me to run fundraising programmes smoothly for my non-profit — Youth Vision.

Attending IFC introduced me to the idea of crowdfunding, through which I was able to raise around $9,200 to serve earthquake victims.“

2019 theme:

Time for Action

IFC is much more than a conference. It is an interconnected, global network of fundraisers and changemakers, radical disruptors and thought-leaders, who convene each year for four immersive days of learning, networking, collaborating, and problem-solving.

In 2017, we started “A New Conversation” to disrupt traditional ways of thinking. In 2018, we said, “Together We Can” take on these challenges as a global collective. Now, in 2019, it’s time to stop talking about what we could do and make change happen.

At IFC 2019, it’s Time for Action.Together, we will explore specific actions we can take to build a more just and thriving future. We’ll take everything we’re learning about fundraising, strategy, leadership, digital and innovation - and turn all of it into actionable plans.

You’ll leave conference with more than notes in a notebook, but go away with new and lasting connections, tangible plans for implementing improvements in your organisation, and ideas and inspiration that gives you renewed energy and enthusiasm for making change happen.
