The joint venture of the Russian group Metalloinvest and Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nayan Hamriyah Steel’s new 1 mio tpy bar mill is located in the Emirate of Sharjah and went into commercial production early this year.

The mill produces bars from 10 - 40 mm and is charged with 125 - 170 mm square billets from a walking beam furnace with a capacity of 180 t/h. The mill consists of horizontal and vertical housing-less stands which can partly operate both in horizontal and vertical mode, together with quick changing equipment. At the finishing end a fully automatic cooling bed, cutting facilities in addition to a bundling and tying station are installed.
