  • Bible Reading: Isaiah 65:17-25

    “See, I will create new heavens and a new earth.

    The former things will not be remembered, nor will they come to mind.

    18 But be glad and rejoice forever in what I will create,

    for I will create Jerusalem to be a delight and its people a joy.

    19 I will rejoice over Jerusalem and take delight in my people;

    the sound of weeping and of crying will be heard in it no more.

    20 “Never again will there be in it an infant who lives but a few days,

    or an old man who does not live out his years; the one who dies at a hundred will be thought a mere child;

    the one who fails to reach[a] a hundred will be considered accursed.

    21 They will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.

    22 No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat. For as the days of a tree,

    so will be the days of my people; my chosen ones will long enjoy

    the work of their hands. 23 They will not labor in vain,

    nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune; for they will be a people blessed by the Lord,

    they and their descendants with them. 24 Before they call I will answer;

    while they are still speaking I will hear. 25 The wolf and the lamb will feed together,

    and the lion will eat straw like the ox, and dust will be the serpent’s food.

    They will neither harm nor destroy

  • on all my holy mountain,” says the Lord.

    Bible Reading: John 3:22-30

    22 After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized.23 Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim,

    because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized. 24 (This was before John was put in prison.) 25 An argument developed between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing. 26 They came to John and said to

    him, “Rabbi, that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”

    27 To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. 28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’ 29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom. The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him,

    and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.30 He must become greater; I must become less.”

    Song: Christ our hope in life and death What is our hope in life and death? Christ alone, Christ alone. What is our only confidence? That our souls to Him belong. Who holds our days within His hand? What comes, apart from His command? And what will keep us to the end? The love of Christ, in which we stand.

    O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal; O sing hallelujah! Now and ever we confess Christ our hope in life and death. What truth can calm the troubled soul? God is good, God is good. Where is His grace and goodness known? In our great Redeemer’s blood.

  • Who holds our faith when fears arise? Who stands above the stormy trial? Who sends the waves that bring us nigh Unto the shore, the rock of Christ? O Sing hallelujah!... Unto the grave, what shall we sing? “Christ, He lives; Christ, He lives!” And what reward will heaven bring? Everlasting life with Him. There we will rise to meet the Lord, Then sin and death will be destroyed, And we will feast in endless joy, When Christ is ours forevermore. Offertory prayer

    Blessed are you, Lord, God of all creation; through your goodness we have this money to offer, the fruit of our labour and of the skills you have given us. Take us and our possessions to do your work in the world. Blessed be God for ever.

    Prayers and Lord’s Prayer Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, Your will be done On earth as in heaven Give us today our daily bread
