Title“Many were aware of the problems of the environment years before it became a popular crusade of the now conscious public. It makes us proud that we were one of those who recognized the need for improvement - and took action. We plan to continue, in our own small way, to help make our communities a better place to work and live.”

Challenge Flexibility, Style, and Strength WXIX wanted a lively, creative workspace for reporters and producers. News crews need to concentrate on the task at hand, and quickly switch gears to chat with each other, without the downtime of scheduling a meeting in a conference room.
WXIX needed: A sturdy open desking system with space for multiple computers and monitors. Mobile storage units for personal items, with an overall structure that could be shared by multiple shifts of people. A creative, engaging, collaborative environment, adjacent to the news studio, worthy to be seen "on air".
Solution Breaking News Means No Time for Formal Meetings Producers can make swift progress on breaking news, because Hum encourages impromptu conversations without moving away from computer and TV monitors.
"These guys have to stay in touch with each other in order to make the deadline. They don't have the time to move to a conference room; they have to do it on the fly," says Bill Lanesey, General Manager. "Hum allows our employees and our content generators to interact with each other on a timely basis."
Furnishings include: Hum. Minds at Work. desks and storage Footprint components Approach seating
Results Hum is Ready for a Close-Up In the fast-paced world of television news, furniture shouldn't slow you down. Hum enables the news, weather, and sports teams at WXIX to always be ready...one minute working together and the next concentrating on individual tasks.
As Steve Ackermann, Fox 19 News Director puts it, "This is a workspace we have to be able to show on high density television. We've been very impressed with how Hum looks on TV and how it improves our workflow."

Challenge Find the Perfect Solution IA Interior Architects (IA) was interested in using an open benching concept to achieve the goals they had set for their new workspace.
The furniture would have to: Impart a clean, simple aesthetic Be customizable and reconfigurable Reflect the corporate culture Promote a collaborative environment Accommodate large printouts
Solution Working Smarter Hum's key focus on cognitive ergonomics eliminated weaknesses that existed in some of the other benching systems on the market. IA concluded that Hum addressed their needs, by taking into account how people work. Hum could be tailored to meet all of their functional and aesthetic requirements.
Furniture used: Hum. Minds at Work. Footprint worksurfaces and storage
Results Mentoring Collaboration Since workplace strategy is their business, IA inherently understood the benefits of the open, collaborative Hum environment. "Hum really has helped with mentoring, with information sharing," says Kay Sargent, Principal, IA Interior Architects. "It's really changed some of our habits. It seems to meet the needs of all of the staff very, very well."
