iFLY Downunder has opened Australia’s first state of the art indoor skydiving centre at Penrith Panthers Entertainment Complex. Our 5 metre wide glass flight chamber is one of the world’s largest and most technically advanced vertical wind tunnels. Over 5.5 million people have already flown with iFLY globally.

Owned and operated by passionate fliers, iFLY have created this incredible facility to share the excitement and freedom of flight with everyone. iFLY Downunder is part of a publicly listed company “Indoor Skydive Australia Group” (ASK:IDZ), a company created to build multiple indoor skydive centres throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia.

SYDNEY ADVENTURE CAPITALiFLY is located just 50 minutes from Sydney’s CBD in Penrith, a region fast becoming known as Sydney’s adventure capital. Visit our new facility en-route to the Blue Mountains or come for the day and experience other local attractions including white-water rafting, cable wakeboarding, bowling, indoor trampoline or jet packing. Our facility is just 2.6km off the M4, if travelling by car and only 3 minutes bus ride from Penrith Train Station.

The iFLY Corporate Experience

What is a vertical wind tunnel?Pretty simple really. It’s a large glass chamber that extends skywards with powerful electric fans at the top. When these operate, air is drawn up through the tube, creating a cushion of air that you can fly on. The amount of airflow is precisely controlled to ensure that it matches the experience level of those in the tunnel. Is it safe?Yes. Every aspect of the wind tunnel design has been carefully considered to create a fully controlled environment that provides total safety. Our certified and highly-trained instructors are with you at all times during your flight to give guidance and reassurance. Is it hard to breathe?Not at all. It’s a similar sensation to sticking your head out of a car window when it’s moving. You’ll feel the wind rush over your whole body as it lifts you effortlessly upwards. Just breathe normally and enjoy the ride.

What happens if there’s a power cut?In the unlikely event that the electricity supply were to fail, the 4 x 450hp fans will gradually slow down and you will be lowered to the ground in a safe, controlled manner.

How long is a flight?Each flight within the wind tunnel lasts for almost 1 minute. That’s actually more freefall time than a skydive from 14,000 feet. Our iFLY Corporate Package includes 2 flights, with an instructor helping you make the most of your time. You can also choose to add additional flights to our packages, see our Extra Options.

The whole experience normally takes approximately one hour however this will be dependent on your group size and how many flights you are doing. We will include the time required on our booking confirmation.

Is it scary?It’s really exciting and challenging, but we wouldn’t call indoor skydiving scary. You don’t have to leap off anything and there’s no sensation of falling or anything that could make you feel motion sickness. We really do recommend anyone to try it.

Do I jump in from the top?No, you just step into the flight chamber at ground level with your flight instructor. First time flyers generally only fly a couple of metres above the net with your instructor with you all the way.

Who can fly?There’s no experience required, so beginners, intermediates and experts can all fly. Of course, you need to be in good health and physical condition. If you’ve had a prior shoulder dislocation or back or neck problems, please con-tact us before booking to discuss your suitability. Anyone with a hard plaster cast, pregnant or under the influence of alcohol or non-prescriptive drugs is also unable to fly. Please read the waiver for full details.

The iFLY Downunder Sydney facility is wheelchair accessible and can fly people with certain physical disabilities, including amputation and paraplegia. Please contact us for details - we’d love to get you flying!

How old do you have to be?Flyers can be as young as 3 years’ old, with no upper age limit. Children under 18 years of age need to have a parent or guardian’s signature on their waiver.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a weight restriction?If you are under 180cm, the weight limit is 105kg, and 115kg if you are over 180cm. These are guidelines only, if you don’t fit into either of these categories, please contact us and we will discuss your personal situation.

Can I fly with anyone else?With our iFLY Introductory packages we normally only fly people individually in the flight chamber, one-on-one with their instructor. To enhance your team building experience we have introduced an option to ‘Share the Air’, which lets 2 people fly in the tunnel together for their first flight. They will each have an instructor beside them offering continually guidance and then will fly their second flight individually.

The rest of the team can still share the experience, watching from the open plan observation deck.

What time should I get there?This will depend on your group size and how long is required to check you all in, make sure everyone has signed waivers and get you geared up ready to fly. Your arrival time will be included on your booking confirmation, if you have any questions please contact a member of our Customer Flight Team.

What should I wear?Please wear well-fitting, lace-up sneakers or running shoes. Other shoes are not suitable. Wear casual clothes, preferably pants and a shirt with no collar. You won’t have to change out of these clothes - you simply put your flight suit on over them.

Why do I need to wear a flight suit?The instructors are trained to grasp the handles of your flight suit, should you need assistance.

Can I do tricks and flips in the tunnel?iFLY’s first concern is for your safety – so tricks and flips are done by experienced flyers only. Some flyers are able to do turns, move up and down, and front to back during their first flight.

Will I need to take off my watch and jewellery?Yes. You should remove any items that might flap around or become loose, such as earrings, necklaces, bracelets, watches, rings, and hair accessories. In addition, you should remove everything from your pockets. We do have lockers for your use, but we recommend that you leave anything valuable at home, as we cannot be responsible for lost or stolen property.

Can I wear my glasses?Yes. We have larger goggles that fit straight over your glasses.

What is the sport of indoor skydiving?Indoor skydiving was originally developed to allow experienced skydivers to train, whatever the weather. These days, it’s soared in popularity around the world and become an adventure sport in its own right.
