Red Wing Shoes was founded by Charles Beckman,

a German immigrant who arrived in America in

the late 19th century. When Beckman was 17 years

old, he got off the train at Red Wing and found

employment at a local leather factory. Working there,

Beckman developed an interest in shoemaking. In

1883, he opened a shoe store, inspired by a desire to

sell only “truly good shoes.” The store thrived, but

Charles still believed good shoes were too hard to

fi nd, so he decided to become a shoemaker himself.

In 1905, with 14 like-minded investors, he founded

the Red Wing Shoe Company.

The cushion crepe wedge sole contains

millions of unconnected, microscopic air

cells which cushion every step but can’t soak

up water. The wedge design supports the

boot’s natural arch for added support where

feet tire fi rst. This sole insulates the foot

against heat and cold and its Traction Tred

pattern provides surer footing and better

traction over rough terrain.

The 877 and 875 are iconic in the history of Red Wing Shoe Company. The quality and versatility

of their design has earned them a unique story that has taken them from the workplaces and

fi elds of America to global recognition. Red Wing Heritage now continues that story with a

renovation of the style, recalling an earlier design in the 877’s history.

Inspired by the bold red leather used to craft the 877 and the 875 over thirty years ago,

Red Wing Heritage is introducing the new Oro Legacy leather which will now be used to build

these legendary boots. Supple and classic, Oro Legacy is a full-grain leather tanned using

traditional methods. No pigment is added in the fi nishing process, which means the natural

beauty and color of the leather is emphasized and every pair of boots is unique.

This signature color from our past is a natural pairing with our 877 and 875, and Red Wing

Heritage is proud to be returning these styles to their roots.

was to provide rugged northern workers with insulated boots built on

an aggressive sole capable of gripping ice and snow. Red Wing Heritage

is introducing this classically robust style for those people in search of a

boot that wears well on both the frozen surface of a remote northland

lake as well as on the pedestrian sidewalks of storefront streets.

This style can weather it all thanks to its northern pedigree, where

civilization doesn’t shut down during the depths of winter and boots

are required to be as resilient as the people who wear them. Built using

natural wool for insulated warmth and beautiful Otter Tail leather, the

Ice Cutter is inherently water resistant.

Designed on top of a lug sole, the Ice Cutter off ers enhanced traction

Made in Maine, the Red Wing Genuine Handsewn collection

features durable, rugged soles and thick Red Wing Shoe leathers

that soften and develop the perfect patina with age.

Once America’s footwear capital, Maine has a rich shoemaking

history that dates back to the mid-1800s. The Androscoggin River

supplied power to many of the tanneries and factories of the early

20th century. Today, the few workshops that have survived are

proudly carrying on the legacy and tradition of making shoes one

stitch at a time, by hand.

The Red Wing Genuine Handsewn collection is crafted using these

century-old techniques that have been passed from hand to hand,

generation to generation. Skilled Maine shoemakers fi t the leather

to the last and hand stitch the pieces together to form the moccasin-

shaped upper. This style of shoemaking is one of the oldest and

most traditional methods of constructing shoes. Each stitch refl ects

the qualities that generations of customers have come to expect

The Process

S.B. Foot Tanning Company The S.B. Foot Tanning Company was fi rst established along the banks of Trout Brook near Red Wing, Minnesota. Founded in 1872 by

Silas B. Foot & George Sterling, the S.B. Foot Tanning Company has been a part of the Red Wing, Minnesota community for generations.

Tanning hides into leather is the process of converting animal

proteins into a stable material that will not easily break down.

Once this conversion is attained, the leather can be fi nished in a

number of ways to achieve the desired pliability, water resistance,

and texture. Properly tanned leather can maintain its properties

in excess of 50 years.

S.B. Foot Tanning Co. uses fresh-prepared hides called “wet

blue.” Wet blue refers to the blue tone of the hide derived from

a high exhaustion tanning process. This leather product is very

stable, pliable and durable – a perfect starting point for high-

grade leathers.

To get to a fi nished state, the wet blue hides are re-wetted,

shaved, and placed into massive wood drums to soak in tree

oils, tanning agents, and dyes. The more time the leather has

to soak in the chemicals and oils, the more penetration the

leather receives - a helpful trait for concealing future scuffs and

maintaining color consistency as the leather is broken in.

eye and a sensitive feel for the leather; skills that only come from years of experience. For more than a century, the master

and allow to dry.

CONDITION: Apply Red Wing Shoes Boot Cream with a clean, soft cloth.

Suede Or Roughout LeatherOur roughout leathers (Abilene, Mohave and Muleskinner) are reverse

suede leathers made in our tannery – S.B. Foot Tanning Co. Most

tanneries employ a process of splitting and thinning hides to create the

rough surface. S.B. Foot uses unsplit, heavyweight leather with proprietary

tanning processes to give these leathers their unique, rough texture.

CLEAN: Lightly rub the edge of the Suede Bar over the soiled area. For

deep stains and marks, apply more pressure. If the stain or dirt still

remains, wet both the Suede Bar and the stain with clean water and

repeat rubbing action. Let dry, then apply Suede Bar to remove water

spots. Brush up nap with Suede Brush.

CONDITION: For Muleskinner leather apply Mink Oil. Abilene and Mohave

leathers require no conditioner.

PROTECT: Red Wing Shoes Leather Protector provides an invisible shield

from water, dirt, oil and mud. To extend the life of the boots, spray them

with Red Wing Shoes Leather Protector before wearing them for the

fi rst time.

MERCHANDISE RETURN POLICYDefective Merchandise:Red Wing Brands of America,

Inc. accepts returns of defective

merchandise. There is no prior

authorization required. A return

merchandise memo must accompany

defective merchandise returns. The

return merchandise must be shipped

prepaid and via the most economical

means. Transportation credit will be

issued on defective merchandise and

prompt credit will be issued on returned

defective merchandise.

Shipping Errors: Red Wing Brands of

America, Inc. accepts returns on

merchandise that is sent in error. This

product must be returned within 30

days of delivery. A return merchandise

memo must accompany the return along

with a copy of the invoice or packing

slip indicating the returned shoe(s).

Shoes returned without a packing slip

will be returned to the dealer. The

returned merchandise must be shipped

prepaid and via the most economical

means. Transportation credit will be

issued on returned shipping errors and

prompt credit will be issued.

Special Orders: Special order merchandise

may be returned within 30 days of

delivery. A return merchandise memo

must accompany the return along with

a copy of the invoice or packing slip

indicating the returned special order

shoe(s). Shoes returned without a copy

of the invoice or packing slip will be

returned to the dealer. A $10 per pair

re-stocking fee will be charged on all

special orders returned after 30 days.

All Other Returns: No other merchandise

returns will be accepted without prior

authorization from your Red Wing sales

representative. After authorization is

granted, a return merchandise memo

must accompany your return along

with the original packing slip and the

return authorization number from your

Red Wing sales representative. Shoes

returned without the return authorization

number and the original packing slip will

be returned to the dealer. A $10 per pair

re-stocking fee will be charged on all

authorized returns.

LIMITED WARRANTY RELATING TO RED WING BRANDED FOOTWEARRed Wing branded footwear products

are warranted against defects in

workmanship and materials. If within 6

months of purchase, a defect occurs in

a Red Wing branded footwear product as

the result of normal use, Red Wing Shoe

Company, Inc. (“Red Wing”) will repair

the defect or exchange the product.

If a product defect occurs as the result

of normal use within 6 to 12 months

after purchase, Red Wing will repair

the defect or issue a credit for 50% of

the purchase price. If a product defect

occurs as the result of normal use 12

months or more after purchase,

Red Wing may, at its option, issue a

fair and reasonable credit that can be

applied to the purchase of Red Wing

branded footwear. The amount of the

credit will be determined in the dealer’s

sole judgment. Product failures caused

by excessive or abusive wear conditions

do not qualify for exchange or purchase

credit. This warranty is available only

to the original purchaser and is not

transferable. No adjustment will be

given without the original receipt of

purchase. You must return your footwear

to the Red Wing Shoe dealer from which

the footwear was purchased.

Disclaimer: The limited warranty relating

to Red Wing branded footwear is in lieu

of any other express warranty. No agent,

employee or representative of Red Wing

has any authority to bind Red Wing

to any affi rmation, representation or

warranty concerning Red Wing branded

footwear products, except as stated

herein. Red Wing shall not be liable

for any consequential or incidental

damages.

This limited product warranty gives you

specifi c legal rights, and you may also

have other rights that vary from state

to state. Any implied warranties shall

be effective for a period not exceeding

12 months from the date of purchase.

Some states do not allow manufacturers

to impose time limitations on certain

implied warranties, so the above

limitation may not apply to you.

DISTRIBUTION POLICYIt is the policy of Red Wing Shoe

Company, Inc. to sell its Red Wing

Heritage products directly to selected

retailers for resale only at or from the

retailer’s retail and/or online outlets

approved in writing by Red Wing Shoe

Company, and only to the retailer’s end

user customers.

Red Wing Heritage retailers are not

authorized to sell to or ship to any end

users outside of the United States or

Canada. This policy further prohibits

resale or shipment of Red Wing Heritage

products by a retailer to any other

business location inside or outside of

the United States.

Violation of this distribution policy may

result in the immediate termination of

a retailer’s right to sell any Red Wing

branded products.

Notice: We have made every effort to

make this catalog accurate. Due to

improvement of product performance

and availability of materials, there may

be specifi cation changes made during

the year. Policies, specifi cations and

designs are subject to change without

notice. Red Wing Brands of America,

Inc. reserves the right to discontinue or

drop products, sizes, widths or styles

without prior notice.
