Pleasant would like to say thank you to everyone who battled the cold Saturday, Nov. 6, and participated in the “Tailgatin’ for Jesus” party. The cold weather could not and did not keep us from having a great time. The food was great (especially the ribs by Randy Goodman), the music by David Smith, The Singing Fireman and Shekinah was awesome but most of all the fellowship was wonderful. If you missed this event, you truly missed a great time and lots of delicious food. As promised, here are a couple of upcoming events in the area. There will be a traditional Thanksgiving dinner at the Dancyville Community Center at 5 pm on Saturday, Nov. 20. Donations will be accepted for the upkeep of the Community Center. For more information, please contact Beverly Martin at 548-6114 or Faye Kee at 548-6493. On Saturday, Nov. 27, there will be a Chili Cook Off at the South Hatchie Fire Department at 6 p.m. There is an entry fee. Deadline to enter is Tuesday, Nov. 23. Chili must be at the fire department by 5 p.m. Following the competition there will be a chili dinner. For more information please contact, Nancy Hendrix at 772-0966, Karen at 901-490-9799 or Susan at 772-3746. Happy birthday wishes this week to LaJuan Sills, Amber Hendrix, Ken Freels, Blake Bolden and Elizabeth Townsend. Those to be lifted in prayer this week are Lillie Goodman, Sandra Goodman, Herbert Hayes, Kathy Watson Doering, Barbara and Boyce Wilson, Carol Wilson, Leah Scallions, Prentice Elrod, Bobby Hayes, Peggy Lewis, Luther and Edna Austin, Enid Powell, Kate Jordan, Darlene Rossen, Fletcher Lewis, Dorothy Bruce, Earline Benard, Shirley Morgan, Kirk Boullion, Carol and Jordan Bruce, Frances Elrod, the military, the nation and the community. I would like to extend sympathy to my good friends Roy and Patsy Leek of Inglis, Florida and their family in the loss of Roy’s sister, Pansy Burse. Roy and Patsy were here for the funeral. They stayed with Roy’s sister, Dessie Haywood and her husband Robert who reside in the KoKo community. Sympathy is extended to the families of Mr. Karl Schwartz Sr. and Mr. Jimmy Mitchell in the loss of their loved ones. Ending this week with our thought for the week as published in the “Upper Room Devotional” by Mary Ng Shwu Ling of Singapore: “What can I do to keep my eyes on what God wants for me?” Sometimes we grow tired in our spiritual journey. When we tire in our spiritual journey, we can remember that the greatest motivation we have as Christians is seeing Christ face to face at the finish line and sharing in His eternal glory. We need to keep the prize in mind so that we keep going and growing in faith. I know I want to cross that finish line into His eternal glory. What about you? If you have news to share, please call me at 772-1885 after 5 p.m. Until next week God bless. It was good to see Brother Mark Conway back Sunday morning after attending the Baptist Convention in Nashville this past week. He continued to hammer down Ephesians 1. You can’t know God perfectly until you die, but if you know Him, then you know the hope of His calling, the riches of the glory of His inheritance, and His power. Sunday night, everyone was shocked to hear that our youth minister Stephen Powell is resigning. Best wishes to you, Stephen and Amy. May God bless you! Scottie Morris reported eleven men attended the prayer breakfast Thursday morning with Brother Phil Lovelace delivering the devotion. Thanks, guys, for gathering each week to pray for various requests. Happy belated birthday wishes to Rachel Morgan, Sara Beth Tinsley, and Stephen Powell. Now that birthdays are announced on Facebook, nobody tells me, and I forget to check it out. Jessie and Shirlene Mullin’s home was filled with couples from Ray and Ricky Ellington’s Sunday school class Saturday night. Since Jimmy is in that class, I was invited as well. We enjoyed a chili supper with lots of extras, including a great time of fellowship. I can’t wait until the Christmas get- together! While we were there, several family and friends gathered at Tyler Watson’s home to help him celebrate his birthday. Trevor Lott and Ryan Siler were present among his friends, but would not share many details Sunday morning. All they would say is, “We had fun!” Happy birthday to you Tyler! Frank and Vicky Fawcett are delighted that her son Justin Chavers will be home for the Holidays. She is also grateful for her dad who served in WWII, her brother who was in the Marines, and her step- son Rob who served in the U.S. Air Force. What a family of military personnel. November is here, so mark your calendars for Nov. 21, when Harvest Day at Zion will be observed with Dr. Bob Agee as guest speaker. Nov. 23, Zion will host the annual community Thanksgiving service. This year, instead of a fellowship meal, each person is to bring a canned good that will be donated to the Mustard Seed. There will be no Wednesday night service Nov. 24. WMU will meet Dec. 7. Details will come later. Also, don’t forget “M” Night coming soon. Pray for those who are sick, our military personnel and their families, the shut-ins, those who have lost loved ones, and the leaders of our country. Pray especially for the families of Doris Land and Walter Duffey in their loss. Call me at 772-4257 if you have news. People want to know! We welcome Mr. Leonard Pierce to our facility and hope he will enjoy his stay with us. Our patients enjoyed fruit bingo this past Tuesday. Thank you to Mrs. Mary Barkens for all the bananas she donated for the game. Also, thank you, Ms. Mary, for so faithfully coming each Wednesday and polishing our ladies nails. We appreciate all our volunteers. Thank you goes out this week to: Christ Temple ladies, CC Club, Douglas Chapel CME Church, First Assembly of God Church, Westside Church of Christ, Russell Grove Baptist Church, Faith Deliverance Ladies, Mrs. Ann Nuckolls, Mrs. Mary Barkens, Peaceful Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, and Community Temple of the Living Church. Thank you also to James Allen Clark who came Wednesday afternoon singing and playing his guitar. He comes monthly and everyone always enjoys his performance. Our sympathy goes to the family of Mr. Jessie Mann. We truly miss him. We thank Peaceful Chapel Missionary Baptist Church members for coming Thursday afternoon bringing a devotion and speaking especially to our veterans and how much we all appreciate them. Thought for the week: The happiest people don’t always have the best of everything, they make the best of what they have. I must start by sending my condolences out to Larry and Linda Washington in the loss of their son Larry Jr. We all remember Mr. Washington from our Kroger store that we all miss so much. I want to also express my appreciation from the family during the loss of my great-nephew, James Shields. Want to continue to pray for his wife Laverne and my niece Ola Mae Shields. Everyone was so kind to the family. I must share this story about my nephew James. He was a good mechanic and I had him to do some work on my car and ended up driving it for two weeks, and I didn’t utter a word. He brought it home to me and said, “Auntee, you’ll have to put some gas in the car, because I ran out in the driveway!” I still didn’t fuss at him but went in the kitchen and fixed him a plate as I always would when he came to my house. My son came up last week to see Willie and me, along with the rest of the family. Phyllis Shaw Taylor was home Sunday to visit her aunt Mattie Sue, who was home from Chicago spending time at my neighbor Emma “Doll” Pender’s home with the family. Phyllis is the daughter of the late William and Callie Lou Shaw. Remember in prayer: Pearline “Teen” Jones, Stacy Greer, Eugene Snipes, Minister J. V. Carney, Minister J.H. and Verma Fuller, Steve White, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie White, Emma Lue “Goldie” Graves, Ocie Bond, Cynthia Bullock Transor, Glenn White, and Fannie Anderson. Thought For The Week: “Check Yourself.” Have you ever heard the phrase, “You need to check yourself,” and wondered what it meant? Well, in Haggai 1:5, the Word of God tells us, “Consider your ways.” It gives examples of the many “complaints” one might have in life when they work for what they want, but with no success. In other words, it’s time to ask yourself some hard questions about what you are doing with your life…and to make an honest and in- depth evaluation of your choices, your behavior, and your relationships. Nobody’s perfect, in fact, as humans, we know we’re far from it. And as believers, we know we have two sides – our “flesh” side and our “God” side. But to walk in the fullness of whom you are and to be the person God created you to be, you must deal with the things holding you back from achieving your purpose and destiny. Scripture Of The Day: “Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts: “Consider your ways! You have sown much, and bring in little; You eat, but do not have enough; You drink, but you are not filled with drink; You clothe yourselves, but no one is warm; And he who earns wages, earns wages to put into a bag with holes. Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Consider your ways!’” - Haggai 1: 5 - 7 (NKJV) By Betty Scott Bethel - Belle Eagle News We have had some gorgeous fall weather, but I know old man winter is on his way. We have had some gorgeous fall weather, but I know old man winter is on his way. Remember the three snows last year after January? But I had rather have snow than 16 inches of rain.

We have some birthdays and anniversaries for this month. Trey Scott turned six Nov. 13 and celebrated his birthday with family and friends at Burger King.
