hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”

are doers of the Word and those who are hearers only. Each person is exposed to the same teachings yet the two are separated by a gaping divide. One follows thorough and applies what he or she has learned. The other hears but does absolutely nothing to apply what he or she has learned. Read James 1:22-25. THE BIBLE WAY TO HEAVEN

Realize That God Loves You. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).

The Bible Says That All Men Are Sinners. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory to God.” (Romans 3:23).

God’s Word Also Says That Sin Must Be Paid For. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23).

The Good News Is That Christ Paid for Our Sins. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8).

We Must Personally Pray and Receive Christ by Faith as Our Personal Saviour. The Bible Says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13).

Your Thoughts

Think about it:

Satan will bring many attacks against your

faith and belief system while in college.

Think About it:

What foundation are you building your

Christian life upon?

Read Matthew 7:24-29. Christ compares two types of people in these verses. He illustrates the first one who hears His teachings and does them as a wise man who builds his house upon a rock. The house represents our beliefs, life, understanding, and world view. It is your Christian life and faith. What is the most important part of a house? It is the foundation. A house without the proper foundation, no matter how big, grand, or beautiful will have structural issues. Establishing a foundation for a house is hard work. Someone has to plan and measure correctly. The depth and size of the foundation will be dependent upon the size building placed on top. For a proper

foundation, holes have to be dug deep into the dirt. Footers are poured to give the foundation a solid surface to rest upon. Christ begins to talk about the rains, floods, and winds that will come and beat against this house. Life and our

enemy Satan is going to bring rain. It is a natural occurrence and represents a consistent attack that will come and go. Sometimes it will be light while at other times it will be heavy downpours. Floods are the culmination of heavy rain. Floods do not come often but when these do come these bring destruction trying to sweep everything down stream. Lastly, winds are a natural occurrence but when combined with rain and floods become very destructive. All these forces represent what the enemy is going to bring with the purpose of hurting and destroying your Christian life & faith. Your foundation will make the difference whether you stand or fall.

say that? On the outside it appeared strong. People witnessed the time and energy put into the building of this Christian life. When a whole house falls it is terrible. When a Christian falls it is terrible and a great fall for all involved. It is a big deal when Satan gets victory and causes a Christian to fall. It is public and many are watching. The enemies of the Lord will mock other Christians and God. So how do you hear and not do? You do not listen to hear. Your spirit is not teachable but filled with pride. Your are not focused on Christ but rather distracted by the world. Read Matthew 21:28-31. How can we be a hearer and a doer? We have to listen to hear. Take notes and meditate on it. Think, study, and reread what your are learning. Most importantly you have to apply it. You have to take active daily steps to practice what God is saying.

Your Thoughts This person hears the same thing as the other.

What is the difference? This person does not put into practice the teachings he or she has learned. This could be intentional, just plain laziness, or a lack of desire. This person is going to build the same Christian life and faith as the hearer and doer. It will all look similar on the outside but the most important aspect is wrong, the foundation. This person builds upon sand as a foundation. What do we know about sand? It is soft, absorbs water, you can dig into it easily, and you can sink into sand. At the beach, a sand castle quickly erodes away because of the water. When the storms of life come in the rain, floods, and winds this building will fall. Christ goes as far as to say, “great was the fall of it.” Why does He
