Enough food for everyone if... Oxfam Chris t ina Bryan Already a billion of us go to bed hungry every night. Not because there isn't enough, but because of the deep injustice in the way the system works. This workshop looks at the global food system and food justice and asks us to think about the tagline 'Enough food for everyone if...' Room – E09 Global Justice? Just i ce in Act ion Fatima Begum Zaman Justice in Action is a film made by Mulberry School for Girls in Tower Hamlets with BBC film maker Fiona Lloyd-Davies, Studio 9 Films. The film is about six young women who journeyed to Bosnia, walking the paths where war and genocide took place to find out what justice really means to those who most want it. This workshop explores the nature of justice and more importantly, how a community and the individuals within it, come to terms with terrible occurrences. The workshop looks at the role of the International Criminal Courts of Justice through a series of interactive debates and discussions. Room – E05

Room – Main Library Israel and Palestine - both sides of an argument Dan Judelson – Jewish Peace Act iv is t Life for Palestinians under occupation in the West Bank and the open air prison of the Gaza Strip is hard, even unbearable. For decade after decade, Palestinians have lived with their land being steadily encroached upon since Zionist immigration began in the late 19th century. The peace process has promised much, but delivered nothing.

Zionism is the national liberation movement of the Jews, a people who have been subjected to prejudice for thousands of years and who live in fear of their neighbours who repeatedly rejected any recognition of Israel, even though it was brought into existence by the international law - the United Nations.

How can the national rights of both Israelis and Palestinians be reconciled? This workshop will look at the competing claims and examine some of the steps required if a just outcome is to be achieved Room – Terrace Restaurant

Admania Otesha Projec t Where would Coca Cola or McDonalds be today without advertising? Advertising is a powerful form of communication that strongly influences our daily lives and things we buy. Understanding what is fact and what is fiction on billboards and bus stops, in magazines and on television is important in making informed choices. In the Admania workshop, participants explore the extent to which individuals are affected by advertising, learn about strategies used by companies to sell products, and uncover facts about products that consumers aren’t often told. Through an interactive quiz, discussions, uncovering real facts behind the ads and creating their own spoof ads, participants will be well equipped to make informed decisions as they venture out into a well marketed world. The Great Banana Chain Game Otesha Projec t Enter the Great Banana Chain Game, where participants get to explore the secret life of a banana.

Have you ever gone behind the scenes of an everyday product and realised how complicated its whole life cycle is? In this workshop participants take on roles in the life cycle of a banana, such as a shopkeeper, a packer, a plantation owner and a pesticide sprayer, and learn about their place in the great banana chain.

This workshop examines systems of production through role-play and explores how the consumption of an everyday product – in this case a single banana – has both positive and negative impacts on other people and resources all over the world. Through an interactive exercise, students will also learn how the price of a banana is divided up amongst the people involved in it’s production. They’ll critically examine the impacts of these systems of production, learn about alternatives that they can act upon and talk about actions they want to take in their own lives to make the world a fairer place. Room – E01
