For Immediate Release - 11/14/09 - #129 Women’s Cross Country Places 4th At Regional Meet Jennie Pernisi and Ashley Meyer Qualify for NCAA Championship Competition REGIONAL WEBSITE GREENSBORO, NC - The women’s cross country team placed fourth at the South/Southeast Regional Meet held in Greensboro, NC. Jennie Pernisi (Camden, NY/Altmar-Parish Williamstown) and Ashley Meyer (Springfield, MO/Glendale), and Molly Galloway (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) qualified for the NCAA National Championship meet by finishing in the top-35 and earning All-Region honors The fourth place finish is the second best placement in the history of the team and the best since the team finished second in 1998. Pernisi posted a time of 24:03 in the 6K event to finish fifth, three seconds ahead of her ODAC Championship winning pace. Meyer crossed the finish line with a time of 24:26 to place 13th, and Molly Galloway (Fairfax, VA/W.T. Woodson) finished 22nd with a time of 24:51 to earn All-Region honors. Aubrey Berry (Cheapeake, VA/Warren Township) placed 47th at 25:47, and Kiley Trennepohl (Monti- cello, IN/The Culver Academies) rounded out the scoring for the Hornets clocking in at 26:30 for 72nd place.
