(motorway, railway and inland waterways).
Roussillon Platform offers an ideal location for companieslooking to set up in the Rhône-Alpes region.
The Platform is strategically located, near the Feyzinrefinery, and represents one of the key components of thesouth-east chemicals industrial platform “ChemicalValley” which extends from Pierre-Bénite to Roussillon.
Close to the universities, engineering schools and researchcentres of Lyon, Grenoble and St Etienne, the Platform is
i l l d di d h i l i Iparticularly dedicated to chemical companies. It covers asurface area of 150 hectares, shared between themunicipalities of Roussillon, Péage-de-Roussillon, Salaise-sur-Sanne and Saint-Clair-du-Rhône.
The Platform is directly linked to the A7 motorway makingit only 30 minutes from the Lyon urban area and its threehigh-speed train stations. It is also within easy reach offour other motorways giving direct, fast access to Paris andthe main European markets. It is close to two airpports(Lyon Saint Exupéry and Saint Etienne)(Lyon-Saint Exupéry and Saint-Etienne).

The Platform’s place in the Rhône-Alpes regionThe Platform is rooted historically in the chemicals sector and in the Rhône-Alpes region. It is
located in the Isère department, in the heart of the industrial valley of the South-East and
Chemical Valley. Through business exchanges involving the industrial companies present, it
maintains close relations with the other sites in the region.
The Les Roches-Roussillon Platform has successfully met
the challenge of developing a responsible multi-operator
site in a Seveso category area, dedicated to the chemical
industries, in the heart of the industrial valley of the South-
East and Chemical Valley.
Close to Lyon France’s second largest city the Platform is

In the heart of the Rhône-Alpes region, the Isère
department benefits from a strategic geographical location
between Northern and Southern Europe, with direct access
Rhône-Alpes is among the top major economic regions in
Europe. With a population of 6 million and a GDP of 158 billion
euros (i.e. approximately 9.7% of the national GDP), it is
France’s second region after Ile-de-France.

In Rhône-Alpes, the chemicals industry sector included more
than 500 private companies and 32,000 direct employees in
2011 (excluding pharmaceuticals – including holding companies
and other related activities). Rhône-Alpes is one of the leading
French manufacturing regions with more than 12 billion euros of

The Platform maintains strong relations with various regional sites,
notably through the trade of raw materials between the industrial
players based in the region. It is also located in an area of skilled
labour and subcontractors that are specialists in the chemicals

sector. It offers an exceptional living and working environment only
50 kilometers from the centre of Lyon.
The Isère basin also offers all the advantages of a fast-developing
rural environment, with a wealth of community and leisure facilities
(water sports centre and health spa, polo club, golf course, etc.).

The Platform’s management, facilities and servicesAccess to secure, high-performance facilities and reliable, economical services are key factors
in integration and development. A single gateway, the OSIRIS G.I.E. manages the pooled
services and infrastructures. The Platform is supplied with raw materials by pipeline from the
Feyzin refinery, and benefits from access via the Rhône as well as a railway connection.
OSIRIS G.I.E.
The Economic Interest Grouping coordinates all
the Platform’s cross-disciplinary aspects: its role
is to offer reliable, economical utilities and
industrial services to all the companies present

- ADISSEO
- BLUESTAR SILICONES
- NOVAPEX
- RHODIA OPERATIONS
Human emergency resources available
- 38 full-time fire fighters + 100 auxiliary fire fighters for the Roussillon site.
- 27 voluntary fire fighters for the Les Roches site.
- Security agents present on site 24/24 and managers on duty to ensure crisis management outside working hours.
- There is an occupational health service to assist the injured.
The human and material resources are shared by the Platform and managed by OSIRIS G.I.E.. A contingency plan is
maintained, updated and tested for each site. This plan involves nine crisis management exercises per year, including
three with the external emergency services.
Material emergency resources available
- The sites possess their own fire-fighting facilities (fire prevention and extinction networks, fire hoses, water curtains)
capable of supplying flow-rates for extinction and protection exceeding 1,600 m3/hr at Les Roches and 3,000 m3/hr at
Roussillon.
- These means are available automatically as soon as a fire alarm is set off. The workshops are equipped with mobile
extinguishers distributed throughout the plants (more than 500 extinguishers at Les Roches and 2,000 at Roussillon).
- The detection networks (fire, toxic gases, etc.) are located at strategic positions on both sites.
- Three fire engines (equipped for foam-forming, transport of powders and CO2), a chemical emergency response vehicle
and two paramedical vehicles are available for the whole Platform.
- A 5,500 m3 retention pond at Les Roches and a 15,000 m3 retention pond at Roussillon can collect waste water used
in fire fighting or from accidental pollution.
