4 About the Game

Dr. Mario: Miracle Cure is a puzzlegame in which you eliminate virusesin a bottle using capsules. With thehelp of miracle cures (page 12), youcan eliminate lots of viruses all atonce and make dramatic recoverieseven when all hope seems lost.This game's Local Match featuresupports both Local Play andDownload Play. This enables you toplay matches with people who ownsystems in the Nintendo 3DS familyregardless of whether they own thesoftware (page 10).

5 Starting the Game

To begin, first select an option fromthe main menu.

Here you can experiment in a varietyof specially designed single-playerstages and learn how to use thedifferent miracle cures.

Miracle Cure Laboratory (page7)

Here you can play alone or face offagainst the CPU after configuringvarious settings to customize yourexperience.

This option allows you to connect toNintendo Network, where you canbattle other players who also ownthe game.

This option allows you to usewireless communication to battleother players or team up toeliminate viruses cooperatively.

6 Saving Data

Data can be lost due to useraction, such as repeatedlypowering off and on the system orremoving a Game Card or SD Cardwhile saving. Data loss may alsobe caused by poor connectivitydue to dirt or dust in the system'sports. Please be aware that inthese cases data cannot berestored.

This game savesautomatically. Whenevergame data is being saved,an icon of a Nintendo 3DSsystem and a virus will appear at thebottom-right corner of the TouchScreen.

7 Miracle Cure Laboratory

The stages foundhere give youopportunities toexperiment with thevarious miraclecures.

Begin by choosinga stage from theTraining, Basic, or Advanced area.Pink buttons represent Dr. Mariostages, green buttons represent Dr.Luigi stages, and blue buttonsrepresent vs. stages that pit youagainst the CPU. In all stages, thegoal is to clear all of the viruses outof your bottle.

The Training area is a great place topractice the fundamentals, learndifferent techniques, and try out themiracle cures for the first time. TheBasic area builds on these conceptswith slightly harder stages, while theAdvanced area offers greaterchallenges.◆ Virus Buster is not available in the

Miracle Cure Laboratory.

8 Custom Clinic

Simply configure the settings tocustomize your game, and you'reready to play!Select Records to view your scores,total play time, and otherinformation.

Viruses will continue toappear regularly from thebottom of the bottle. Seehow long you can playbefore getting a gameover.

The game types that are availablewill change depending on whetheror not miracle cures are enabled.

Win either by clearing allof your viruses first or byholding out until the CPUloses.

Use this setting to adjust the speedat which capsules fall.◆ For Virus Buster games, a speed

is selected by choosing betweenthree difficulty options.

If you have selected a Classic, Vs.CPU, or Virus Buster game, you canadjust some final settings to changethe difficulty before the gamebegins.

9 Online Battles

Online Battles (Internet)

You can engage in online battleswith players from around the worldvia Nintendo Network.

Rankings

To initiate an online battle, selectOnline Battle from the main menu,and choose a game mode. Thegame will then search for a battlepartner whose rating is close to yourown. Once an opponent is found,your battle will begin.◆ You start with a default rating of

5,000. If no opponent with arating close to yours is available,you may be matched with anopponent whose rating is furtherfrom your own.

Here you can view the rankings andyour ratings.

TopPlayers

View the players who fillthe top 100 positions inthe rankings for each kindof online battle.

◆ Virus Buster cannot be playedonline.

10 Local Matches

- Each player must own a system inthe Nintendo 3DS family.

Local Play andDownload Play

Local matches can be played viaLocal Play and Download Play.Several different types of local vs.matches are possible. In VirusBuster, cooperative local matchesare also possible.

- For Local Play, both players mustown the game.

- For Download Play, one player(the host) must own the game.

1. Choose either Local Play orDownload Play.

12 Basic Rules

Move and rotate the capsules asthey fall so that they come to restnext to, on top of, or just belowviruses of the same color. When youvertically or horizontally align four ormore pieces of the same color(capsule pieces and/or virus pieces),they will form a set and alldisappear.

Eliminating Viruses

All game modes share the samebasic rules and objective: as thecapsules enter the bottle and fall,l ine them up with like-coloredviruses in order to exterminate them.Once all viruses have been removedfrom the bottle, the current stage iscleared.

Vertical Elimination

◆ During an Endless game, viruseswill keep appearing in the bottleuntil you get a game over. Thegoal is not to clear the bottlecompletely, but to see how longyou can last.

If miracle curesare enabled,the miracle-cure meter(page 13) willbe displayedon the game screen. Thismeter fills as the gameprogresses. Once it'scompletely full, the indicatedmiracle cure will appear anddrop. There are many types ofmiracle cures, each with adifferent effect (page 15).

14 Techniques

When sets of viruses and capsulesdisappear, any remaining capsulepieces will drop, potentially causingother like-colored capsules andviruses to line up, form sets, anddisappear as well. Clearing sets oneafter the other like this is called achain.

Dr. Mario/Dr. LuigiTechniques

You can eliminate many virusessimultaneously by using techniquescalled chains and combos. Duringtwo-player battles, getting chainsand combos will send capsulepieces into your opponent's bottle,cluttering up his or her playing field.◆ During Dr. Luigi two-player

matches, pay special attention towhich colors will be most difficultfor your opponent to place.

Virus Buster Techniques

After clearing a set inVirus Buster, you canmove any fallingcapsule pieces thatremain in the sameway that you movewhole capsules. If you drag acapsule or capsule piece veryquickly during a Virus Buster game,you can slide it through viruses andother capsules. This techniquemakes it possible to fill in openspaces that otherwise seemunreachable.

◆ If miracle cures are enabled,eliminating viruses and capsuleswill make the miracle-cure meterfill up more quickly.

When the miracle-cure meter iscompletely filled, the miracle cureindicated at its top will appear as thenext drop into the bottle.
