A Sophisticated Navamsa-method Some of the Nadis have a peculiar way of judging the Navamsa position of planets. They consider the sign occupied by the planet as a kind of Navamsa- Lagna for that planet, while the sign indicated by its Navamsa position would be its actual house-position of the planet counted from that Lagna. Therefore, if a planet is placed in Aries sign, Gemini Navamsa, then it is considered to be in the 3rd house. If in Libra sign, Scorpio Navamsa, it would be considered to be in the 2nd house. Vargottama means being in same sign and Navamsa, and it is considered to be a very strong placement. According to the point of view of the Nadis, a Vargottama-planet works exactly like a planet in the Ascendant, which makes it highly important, since it has a direct influence on the 1st house matters like personality, character, physical shape etc. of the person. I would like to show an example of how to use transits and navamsa with this sophisticated old Navamsa-technique. In this case we only need the precise position of two natal planets: 1) Mars 02:55 Pisces 2) Jupiter 22:06 Taurus 5th House Jupiter and Mars are both in Cancer Navamsa - where Jupiter is exalted and Mars is debilitated. Mars is in Pisces and therefore Pisces becomes Navamsa-lagna for Mars in Cancer navamsa. So Mars goes to the 5th house with Jupiter. This gives the following information about the 5th house matters: 1) Mars is in the 5th house, which is bad and further it is debilitated - but Mars is still a masculine planet indicating male children. 2) Jupiter in the 5th house which is bad if supported by another malefic indication, but in this case Jupiter is exalted, thus indicating benefic results. 3) The exalted Jupiter in the 5th house indicates five sons, but the presence of debilitated Mars seems to indicate that this number can be reduced by three, as Mars indicate the number three. 4) The final result will be only two living sons. As a matter of fact the 5th house being the sign Cancer ruled by the Moon also indicates this number, since Moon indicates the number two. In Nadi-astrology the number indicated by a planet is the number of the weekday of that planet. No. 8 and 9 are however ruled by Rahu and Ketu. It works like this: No. 1 = Sunday (Sun)

A Sophisticated Navamsa-method

Some of the Nadis have a peculiar way of judging the Navamsa position of planets. They consider the sign occupied by the planet as a kind of Navamsa-Lagna for that planet, while the sign indicated by its Navamsa position would be its actual house-position of the planet counted from that Lagna.

In this case we only need the precise position of two natal planets:

1) Mars 02:55 Pisces

2) Jupiter 22:06 Taurus

5th House

Jupiter and Mars are both in Cancer Navamsa - where Jupiter is exalted and Mars is debilitated. Mars is in Pisces and therefore Pisces becomes Navamsa-lagna for Mars in Cancer navamsa. So Mars goes to the 5th house with Jupiter. This gives the following information about the 5th house matters:

1) Mars is in the 5th house, which is bad and further it is debilitated - but Mars is still a masculine planet indicating male children.

It works like this:

No. 1 = Sunday (Sun)

Page 2: 118473468 Another Navamansa

No. 2 = Monday (Moon)

No. 3 = Tuesday (Mars)

No. 4 = Wednesday (Mercury)

No. 5 = Thursday (Jupiter)

No. 6 = Friday (Venus)

No. 7 = Saturday (Saturn)

No. 8 = Rahu

No. 9 = Ketu

They can be divided into either odd or even numbers, this way:

Odd (1, 3, 5, 7 & 9) = Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn and Ketu

Even (2, 4, 6 and 8) = Moon, Mercury, Venus and Rahu

Please observe that the odd numbers include the masculine planets, while the even numbers include the feminine ones. However, if we want to find out the number of something from the chart, it maybe useful to see if the ODD or EVEN planets are dominating in the relevant house. In many cases it will be sufficient to know if the person has an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9) or an even number (2, 4, 6, 8) of siblings, children, wives or whatever.

Anyway, in this present case there is a qualified significator of sons in cancer navamsa, sons can be predicted when Jupiter or Saturn transits Cancer Rasi or its trines.

Actually the person got the first out of two sons when Jupiter was in Cancer itself, but the birth was followed severe psychological troubles for this person. This is because of Mars in Cancer gets much too emotional.

The second son was born when Saturn was transitting in Scorpio in trine to Cancer.

8th house

If we look at this from the position of Jupiter in Taurus, then Jupiter becomes the 8th lord, and thereby qualified significator of the 8th house (death).

Because of this, Mars and Jupiter in Cancer navamsa give the information that the 8th-lord is with Mars and thereby indicating the possibility of an unnatural or even violent death.

This means that at some point when Jupiter or Saturn transits in Cancer or its trines, the person may suffer an unnatural death.

Page 3: 118473468 Another Navamansa

This actually happened when Saturn was transitting in Cancer. By digging deeper into this chart a good Nadi-astrologer could also have predicted the precise cause of death and a lot of other details.

Another exampleA male person had his natal Saturn placed at 20:13 degrees Libra in Aries Navamsa. So according to this ancient Nadi-method it would be like having Libra-Ascendant with Saturn debilitated in the 7th house. As one can imagine this would indicate some disturbing results regarding marriage.

Now please observe that he was married at the age of 29½ when Saturn returned to its own natal position and triggered this bad 7th-house-promise. It therefore became a very saturnian marriage of disharmony and lack of mutual understanding and trust. This was not without good reason: His wife had her natal Saturn right on his Ascendant, and in return his natal Saturn was right on her Ascendant!

According to Nadi astrology, Saturn destroys a house when it transits the 8th house from it. Considering the Libra-Ascendant with debilitated Saturn in the 7th, the timing of the bad results would be when Saturn transitted Scorpio, the 2nd house from Libra. This is because 2nd house is the 8th from the 7th house.

Actually, this person experienced a very painful divorce when Saturn was transitting in Scorpio at the age of 32. This event was also indicated in the Vimsottari Dasa, as the person was running Venus-Rahu, and Rahu is placed in the 2nd house (8th from the 7th) from his Ascendant.
