The Release of the DovesA holiday remembrance for those who have lost a loved one.

The Lakeside Memorial Funeral Home continues a yearly holiday tradition of respect and remembrance with the release of white doves from a basket at the funeral home located on the corner of Camp Road and Route 5 in Hamburg, at 2 PM on Sunday, November 18, 2012.

Individual family representatives wishing to take part in this community event to remember their loved ones will be allowed to release biodegradable balloons in their memory.

There will also be a special gift for all adult participants who attend the event. The Hospice Foundation will give a presentation. Music will be performed by “Heart to Heart”. Hot chocolate, coffee and cookies will be provided.

EVANS TAKES LEAD ON RESIDENTIAL INVESTMENT EXEMPTION

OnSeptember20, theTownofEvans,VillageofAn-gola and theLakeShoreCentralSchoolDistricthostedaBreakfast to promote the newResidential InvestmentPropertyTaxExemption,whichwasformallyadoptedbytheEvansTownBoardonSeptember19. Invitedguestsincludedrealtors,contractors,mortgageloanofficersandcommunityleaders. Following opening remarks from Supervisor Dash,membersoftheEvansEconomicDevelopmentAdvisoryCommittee presented an outline of theTown’s recentlyadoptedresidential tax investmentexemption,whichal-lowsfora5-yeartaxabatementforqualifiedreconstruc-tion, alteration or improvements to residential property.Toqualify,projectsmustresultinanincreaseinassessedvalue of $10,000 or more, as determined by the TownofEvansAssessor.TheVillageofAngolaand theLakeShoreCentralSchoolDistrictarecurrentlyintheprocessofadoptingidenticallegislation. The goal of the program is to revitalize areas of theTown,particularlyareaswitholderhousingstock,throughrenovationandrehabilitationof1-3familyhousing.“TheResidential Investment Exemption is a tool for encour-aging reinvestment of existing housing stock to stimu-lateourlocaleconomy,”saidLoriSzewczyk,DirectorofCommunityDevelopmentfortheTownofEvans.. The Realtors/Contractors Breakfast was held at theLakeShoreMiddleSchoolMediaCentertoshowcasetheLakeShoreSchoolDistrict’smanyassets.Seventhgradestudents from the“LeadershipClub”actedashosts, es-cortingguestsfromtheschoolentrancetothemediacen-ter and distributing informational packets, which high-lighted the gains and achievements of the students andSchoolDistrictoverthelastseveralyears.Superintendentof Schools, James Przepasniak spoke about academicinitiatives,curricularofferings,extra-curricularprogram-ming,collaborationsandtherecentcapitalimprovementsbeingcompletedacrosstheDistrict. "ThiswasagreatopportunitytohighlightouracademicprogramsforstudentsandshowcaseourDistrictasaDes-tinationDistrict,”saidSuperintendentPrzepasniak.“Theresidential investment property tax exemptionmay justbethecatalysttobringnewfamiliestoourareaandourSchoolDistrict."
