Message from the Governor of East Java
East Java is proud to host the 19th Majapahit Travel Fair (MTF) in 2018. One behalf of the Government and the people of East Java, I would like to extend a very warm invitation to the travel professionals and tourism industries to participate in the annual MTF held on April 12 -15, 2018 in Surabaya. The MTF is an excellent platform to build networking and establish business contact. It has been attended by both international and domestic buyers, a wide variety of sellers of East Java tourist destinations, hotels, resorts, and travel related services as well as industry policy makers, academicians, tourism observers then media.
While in East Java, do take the opportunity to discover and experience not only the spectacular natural tourist attractions but also the unique blend of offers-from ethnic cultures, exotic fruits and cuisine, colorful dances to nightlife, and you can meet the different kind of ethnics spread across the 38 regencies. They are potentially promoted and offered to the other nations.
To comfort the visitors, East Java boasts its rapid development of tourism infrastructures such as the growing of new hotels in Surabaya, new tourist attractions, shopping blocks malls, and more direct flights. The Juanda International airport has a larger area and accommodates more airlines than ever before. It also has direct flights from and to some other countries such as Malaysia (Kuala Lumpur, Penang, and Johor Baru), Singapore, Hong Kong, Brunei Darussalam and Taiwan (Taipe).
I am confident you will find that the province of East Java is ready and commited to the continuing development of the travel and tourism industry. I wish your active participation in MTF 2018 would greatly develop your business meeting and have the most enjoyable and fun stay in East Java.

To all delegates, we welcome you to The 19th Majapahit Travel Exchange
We are so grateful that ASITA could gain the trust to conduct the annual event of "MAJAPAHIT TRAVEL EXCHANGE 2018". On behalf of ASITA, we are very grateful for the opportunity to be the Organizer of this event. Majapahit Travel Exchange is one of the biggest tourism in eastern Indonesia tourism business meeting that invites buyers and sellers to discuss and engage directly to create mutually beneficial
business relationships and enhance East Java Tourism.
This year’s Majapahit Travel Exchange will present much enhanced mechanism that is greatly improved compare to previously held Majapahit Travel Exchange. On this occasion, we would like to bring you to the best tourist destinations in East Java which have gained International attention in recent years. The first stop will be Batu City, a tourist resort located closed to Malang city, will provide you with the comforting cool weather. The second stop will be Mount Bromo - an active volcano, and Semeru-the highest mountain in East Java.
This is the best time for buyers and sellers to build business relationships create direct deals and gain more partners. We really hope that through this event all buyers and sellers could increase their prospects and develop their tourism industries together. About Us
The Government of East Java will hold again Majapahit Travel Fair, the international culture and tourism event. It is an appropriate event to promote cultural and tourism potential of East Java in particular and in Indonesia in general. This annual event which has been held for eighteen times has always shown great success and attended by a lot of participants from East Java, other provinces and overseas.
Majapahit Travel Exchange 2018 which will be held on April 11th - 14th, 2018 at Bumi Surabaya City Resort. Theme of Majapahit Travel Exchange 2018 is “Cultural Uniqueness”, we want to invite all people to see and explore East Java’s cultural uniqueness to make the unforgettable memory vacation in East Java. Majapahit Travel Exchange will invite about 120 Buyers from Asia, Middle East, Australia, Europe, America and Domestic and meet potential Sellers majority from East Java Province. Majapahit Travel Fair always achieves great success. The number of last year’s participants joining the Table-Top Business Meeting grew significantly. It is one of the efforts of East Java Government to develop the diversity of events and tourist attractions. It is also expected that Majapahit Travel Exchange can enhance the contribution of tourism sector and open business opportunity for people.
Aims: Majapahit Travel Fair 2018 consistently positions East Java on the world tourism map or as
national and international tourist destination.
Objectives: Creating business opportunity between East Java tourism industry and other provincial and
overseas tourism industry Increasing domestic and foreign tourist arrival to East Java As a promotional event for tourist destination in East Java and other provinces in Indonesia Developing the cooperation between government and private sectors Improving the capability of tourism operators especially on promotion, marketing and negotiation Increasing the people’s appreciation on important role of tourism industry in supporting regional
and national economy Digging and growing up the sport based tourist attraction Conserving the values of regional culture
Majapahit Travel Fair 2018 Programs
Majapahit Travel Fair 2018 has two programs. Those are Convex which focuses on East Java tourism exhibition and Travex which focuses on business meeting between sellers and buyers. These following activities will be performed at the Majapahit Travel Exchange 2018:
TABLE TOP
Table Top is a closed business meeting between buyers and sellers. The sellers are from travel agent, Hotel and Mice organizers, tourist destinations and attractions of East Java and Indonesia, while buyers is travel agencies from foreign countries who want to buy East Java package tour (inbound). There will be the top 100 sellers from East Java and outside East Java. There is a slight difference the outcome of Table Top between tourism sector and industry sector. In industry sector, buyers are the importers of Indonesian product whose their transaction can be directly seen in the order contract on the meeting. While on tourism sector, buyers are the tour operators who generate visitors to our country in which the outcome can be seen into three forms:
a. Being more recognizable the East Java tourism products (package tour, hotel facility and room rate) and the regional tourism potentials
b. Intertwining the business partners between domestic and overseas tour operators with East Java's
c. Direct selling of package tour between buyers and sellers. Contract realization greatly depends on political situation and safety of the country.
FAM TRIP
Familiarization trip is especially designed for buyers to directly visit and witness the wonderful and beauty of tourist destinations and attractions in East Java.
For Majapahit Travel Exchange 2018 delegates, to meet your request and explore the real beauty of East Java tourism potentials you can participate in these following programs:
1. BATU CITY
Batu City located at the slope of Panderman hill with 1000 m above sea level offers beautiful panorama, cool temperature and best plantation. Batu is popular for its plantation such as apple, strawberry, guava, orange, dragon fruit and hydroponic vegetables that are free from pesticide.
You can enjoy guide plantation tour to see how to grow and pick up fruit in harvest season. You can taste one species of apples like Anna, Rome Beauty and Manalagi or buy some other fruit products which are locally processed like strawberry jam, apple jam, apple juice, and apple chip
2. MOUNT BROMO
Mount Bromo is an active volcano, located 7,810 feet above sea level. The massif area is one of the most visited tourist attractions in East Java, Indonesia. This is one of the top 10 things to do in East Java and rightly so. The mountain beckons majestically despite having the entire top blown off and with a crater inside that keeps spewing off white sulphurous smoke. This will be a very unique and exciting tour that wills surely be one of the most memorable experiences of your visit to East Java

Majapahit Travel Exchange 2018 is held by The Government of East Java c.q. Government Culture and Tourism Service of East Java in coordination with Association of the Indonesian Tour Agencies East Java Chapter (DPD ASITA) supported by all components from tourism industry; airline partners, hotels and restaurants.
