INVITATION FOR PARTICIPATIONThere has been total evolution of global textile industry ever since the quota regime was ended in 1995. Every 3-4 years have seen major changes in how the textile manufacturing shifting from one set of countries to the other. Initially, US & Europe textile business moved to China, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka & other Asian Countries, so much so that Bangladesh even overtook India in terms of exports due to its special status, MFN (Most Favoured Nation). It is further moving to African countries and now Burma is becoming a hot spot for textile processing. The reasons were obvious. The textile business is not so sustainable in these countries. There are no more advantages of cheap labour and other resources, like power & water which are almost becoming scarce like in US & Europe. The strict regulations on pollution norms, child labours etc. are now observed in many countries, including India.

The main question is whether the global textile industry will survive all these challenges and emerge with excellence. There are many other challenges facing the Textile Industry. Increase in the oil price is changing the logistic cost every day. Textile Industry is heading for a situation where the costs are increasing every day. Apart from this the fluctuation in the currency are making business unviable. This conference will attempt to create and combined attempt of handling many issues which are very critical for the survival of textile industry. However the fact is that the textile industry will survive and remain in demand so long the mankind exists.

The Textile Association (India) decided to cover all these issues related to global textile industry in this All-India Conference. The All-India Textile Conference is being organized jointly by Mumbai Unit and Central Office. The tentative programme would cover the following sessions:

– Textile Business Potentials of BRIC regions and possibilities of trading in local currencies– Textile Business in Asian Countries– Business opportunities in Burma and Africa - Emerging new low cost production centres– Financials – Banks & institutional support for textile projects– Surviving in currency fluctuation situations– Supply chain management & logistics– Consumer expectations & rising demands– Environmental issues & overcoming these regulations– State and Central Government Policies & their strategic plans to support to the textile industry– Initiative Fibre – Natural & man-made, including Organic Cotton– Innovation in textile machinery– Innovations in chemicals & dyes to beat the challenges

The highlights of the conference are two eminent key-note speakers as well Panel discussion sessions comprising the Global & Indian Textile Leaders in the field. In addition, there will be eminent textile magnets from different countries, government officials from states & central government, logistical experts, overseas speakers from the machinery manufacturers, dye/chemical manufacturers, processors and the brand owners.

You have been very supportive and proactive in the activities of TAI, Mumbai Unit. We are sure you will give the same financial support and actively participate to make this Conference a memorable one in the Diamond Jubilee Year.
