The RigDeluge Free Flow Nozzle™ has been designed to segregate debris from the dispersion gap to allow a clear flow of water out the nozzle.

The water flow and pressure of the system will force the in- line debris through the inner body of the nozzle into the end of line debris pot.

The clear free flowing water will then flow past the dispersion gap to build up pressure that in return then force the clear water out the dispersion channel.

When the nozzle is positioned in an end of line run which has a history of large volumes of debris ≥ 50 grams it should be utilised in conjunction with a RigDeluge Debris Trap for best results to avoid nozzle blocking. 3” Debris Pot & Trap ≥ 400 grams positioned end of line.

Note: The 1.0” Profile was generic through all down ward vertical tests, only when tested in the horizontal position at 10 Bar and above did the Profile change as shown below.

All nozzle profiles have been witness tested by BV. The below tables are for the K-Factor noted at 7 bar, the profiles will change with an increase in pressure and volume and can be checked with all independent verifications.

Test spread vertical downward distance was set to 4m from ground level.

Higher pressures should be utilised for all rig cooling activities for an increased transmissivity level. This will ensure API 521 Safety Parameters are achieved.

Test Data:

The Free Flow Nozzle™ has been tested to simulate its performance with more than 94g of debris positioned in-line.

84g of debris was retrieved from the nozzle debris pot with the nozzle still achieving its designed K-Factor allowing any potential fire to be controlled even with a failing delivery line.

Test Criteria:

Nozzle Used: K-142

Test Pressure: 5 Bar

Debris: Line Scale

Full Video of this test can be seen on our web site www.rigdeluge.com

An End of Line Debris Pot will allow for further quantities of debris to be captured before the nozzle performance is hampered.

The end of line set up will ensure that your system gets the best chance of operating as designed when large volumes of debris are present.

Purchase

The Free Flow Nozzle™ can only be purchased through RigDeluge Ltd; a purchase request form can be found on our web site www.rigdeluge.com or supplied direct by your RigDeluge representative.

The nozzles are sold in minimum quantities of fifty at any given time unless stipulated as a replacement part of a previous order. All sizes and profiles are to be stipulated on the purchase order form with K-Factor, connection size and type listed.

Manufacture of nozzles will not commence until full payment is received by RigDeluge Ltd with delivery time being approximately eight to twelve weeks from payment.

Shipping

The Free Flow Nozzles™ will be shipped from our UK office after going through robust quality control inspections. Upon receipt of goods purchaser will be in full control of the nozzles for further shipping, installation and maintenance.

Installation

Free Flow Nozzles™ should be handled with care at all times; the nozzles are to be installed by the purchaser in accordance to their systems design criteria.

The nozzles are to be assembled hand tight with the system connection tightened as per system requirements. Excessive torqueing and tightening of the nozzles may result in damage to the nozzle inner body and may affect the spray pattern and debris collection process.

The purchaser is solely responsible for the installation of the nozzles and specification, and responsible for the complete system design that the nozzles are installed to.

Purchaser shall utilize correct size of nozzle for the K-Factor and nozzle debris pot in relation to expected debris particle size and type.

For ultimate results as shown on our web site test video the 1.0” Nozzle should be installed along with the Three Inch RigDeluge Debris Pot with internal Debris Trap. Debris Pots to be positioned on the 90 degree vertical of the delivery line.

Maintenance

The maintenance of the nozzles is the responsibility of the purchaser who shall ensure that all wet testing compliance is adhered to by the installations insuring authority. Following each operation debris pots are to be emptied. Captured debris can then be weighed and analysed for debris type. With consistent operational testing debris can help pre-determine the corrosion rate, source and type. Incorrect service and maintenance will result in nozzle failure and is solely the responsibility of the system owner.
