y parents drummed it into me from an early age…

“Robert, the World is full of stupid people.” (Much to the disgust of my teachers at school.) And the ‘scary’ thing is most stupid people

don’t even know they are stupid. This makes them dangerous… VERY dangerous! They tend to have strong opinions on matters

they know nothing about, and they are not going to let anything as irrelevant as mere knowledge and truth get in the way of this.

The danger with stupid people is that they are

so sure they are right… …go to any online forum, on any topic, and

you’ll see what I mean. Full of stupid people spouting authorities and

compelling nonsense. When I first started online some 9 years ago,

the stupid were very quick to give me their advice. The stupid I encountered liked to refer to

themselves as Internet Marketers or Gurus. Self-appointed ‘ex-spurts’ pitching their

untested or useless ideas and advice within products and services (usually ebooks and DVD’s) to unsuspecting ‘newbies’.

And if you have a quick look online today – especially within the ‘internet marketing/make money online’ niche – the stupid are still there spouting and selling their nonsense.

Their favourite line at the moment is that they

have: “broken the code”. The reason I mention the stupid is because if I

had been silly enough to follow their advice back in 2005, I’m positive I’d have given up selling products and services online years ago.

And this is VERY significant. Let me share some figures with you regarding

products I’ve sold online since 2005…

“Six Figure Elite Training

Programme” sold 834 copies at £97.00 grossing over £80,898.

In total, these five products have grossed a total of £758,055.

And that’s just from five products I’ve picked

out. I sell another ten different products within a

number of different niches – I’m quite big within the dating/pick up niche! – I do private mentoring coaching and sell re-sell licences for some of my products.

In total, this all adds up to well over £1

Million in sales since 2005. Now remember what I said earlier, if I had

followed the advice from the stupid I’d probably have earned maybe £20,000 before giving up as there was too much hard work, risk and effort involved.

But because I ignored their advice, used some

common sense marketing methods – most honed from my 10 years running a very successful Mail Order

business – I was able to bank over £1 Million in sales online.

And within this training manual, I’m going to

share the methods, techniques and strategies I used to ‘bank’ £104,000 within 4 months.

And these methods, techniques and strategies I

continue to use today resulting in an average yearly turnover of £200,000 for my online business.

How I made £104,000 Within 4 Months

So, back to 2005 when I first joined the online

community. I had no product, no email list, no technical

skills (still don’t), and basically no clue as to what to do to make money online.

The main ‘advice’ I started to receive – serves

me right for opting into a number of lists – was to sell an ebook by either building an email list or using Google PPC.

And of course, the ‘ex-spurts’ would kindly sell

me a DVD or ebook on how to do this. Now, don’t get me wrong, those two methods did

work really well for a very small number of people. But it tended to be people who were technically

skilled and had a lot of upfront capital to invest. The rest were making the odd sale here and there

but nothing like what the ‘ex-spurts’ were promising within their sales literature.

What I did agree on with the ‘ex-spurts’ was the need for a product to sell online.

From my years within the Mail Order business,

“How To…” publications sold the best. People will always want to know/learn how to do

something that either solves a problem or enriches their lives.

So, I needed a “How To…” product to sell. The best “How To…” products are written in a

step-by-step format so the reader can follow the instructions and apply them step-by-step.

I decided to create a “How To…” product for

people looking to join the internet community and make some extra money online.

First thing I did was make a list of everything

a ‘newbie’ would need to know to give them a good chance of succeeding online.

My list went something like this:

Payment processor – Paypal

Website design software – Xsite Pro

Domains and Webspace – Go Daddy, Hostgator

Autoresponder software – Aweber

Marketing method – Email, PPC, Banner Ads

Additional income – Affiliate marketing, ebay, Amazon

And what I did was research each point and write a mini guide on “How To…” use the software and set it all up.

In other words I just created a product that I

would have bought myself because it answered a lot of questions and gave step-by-step instructions.

Then bundled all the mini guides together to

create a sort of ‘newbies’ guide on “How To Make Money Online”.

And I called the product: “The Easy Way To Make

Money Online – Everyday”. I then got a designer to create a book cover for

the product. And here it is: Now, before I get accused of contradicting

myself, my “How To…” guide was completely different to what the ‘ex-spurts’ were peddling.

And to be doubly sure, I bought a handful of

their products just to confirm that what I had created was completely different.

Just to give you an example, I created a simple

website for selling the guide and took screen shots of the entire process, from design, inserting a

Paypal ‘Buy Now’ button to buying a domain and webspace and uploading it.

And including step-by-step instructions with the

screen shots. The website has changed a bit, but here’s what

it looked like: Something like this within a “How To…” guide

seems so obvious, but at the time I was the only person in the UK offering such a “How To…” guide.

Now, the ‘ex-spurts’ were telling everyone that

once they had an ebook to sell, they needed to set up a PPC campaign on Google and bid for hundreds of keywords associated with “make money”.

And that’s what thousands of ‘newbies’ did, and

sadly most lost a lot of money because they were forced to bid anything up to £2.50 per click for the main keywords.

Not only that, but there was a lot of ‘clicking fraud’ going on, where competitors were clicking on rival ads – in other words spending their rivals advertising budget.

I can remember entering a search term on Google: “How to make money online” and discovering that

there were over 70 pages containing PPC ads. With 10 ads on each page, you were looking at

700 PPC ads showing for that search term. Add to the fact that someone searching online,

would probably only look at page one (page two if you were lucky) and they were just ‘looking’ and not ready or have any intention of buying…

…it didn’t need much common sense to realise

that the chances of making any money using the advice the ‘ex-spurts’ were giving/selling amount to zero.

So, with my guide written and the website built

and uploaded online, how was I going to sell the product?

By doing the complete opposite to what everyone

else was doing. By positioning myself as someone a prospect

could trust. And by NOT making the HUGE mistake of thinking

everything HAD to be conducted online. Within the next section, I’ll reveal exactly

what I did.

First thing I noticed was that everyone seemed to be selling ebooks at £19.00/$17.00.

Some ‘brave’ marketers were charging

£27.00/$27.00, but it just seemed that everyone was price-copying everyone else.

(You’ll find this happens a lot on the

internet.) Now the ‘Gurus’ will tell you that this is the

maximum price a customer is willing to pay for an ebook and they will not pay anymore.

My reply would be: “How do you know, have you asked millions of

potential customers what they are willing to pay for information?”

Nope! Thought not. It’s just a presumption Gurus make that any

ebook priced over £27.00 would be rejected. Which, when you think about it is stupid. I mean, let’s imagine you invented a time

machine. (Stay with me on this …) And travelled forward seven days, wrote down the

winning lottery numbers for the £10Millon jackpot, returned back to present day and offered these numbers within an ebook.

How much could you charge for these numbers? “Not more than £27.00” shouts the ‘ignorant’

Guru from the back. Erm… I don’t think so, chuckles. You could charge £9Million for the ebook and

still the customer would snatch your hand off with a guaranteed £1Million profit from what you sell them.

The point I’m trying to make is: DON’T ever look at your ebook as just an ebook. It’s the information contained within that you

are selling NOT the ebook itself. The ebook is just the format that the

information is carried. Make sense? So with this mind, I decided to charge £77.00

for my ebook: “The Easy Way To Make Money Online – Everyday”, which was a around £50.00 more than the Gurus ‘accepted’ norm.

And to differentiate my product from all the

other products that were for sale on Clickbank, I would also send the customer a hard copy of the ebook.

Even with all the electronic technology, people

still like to have a physical product in their hands that they can sit in a comfy chair and read at their leisure.

I once asked 100 customers what format they preferred from me – a hard copy manual or an ebook?

And 96 people told me they prefer to receive a

hard copy manual – with all 100 people preferring both options together.

A hard copy version of an ebook also gives your

product an added value. Instead of it being something that just sits on

a customers hard drive, a ‘proper’ good old fashion printed and bound manual can take pride of place on a desk/table and constantly be used as a reference manual.

I even called my ebook a “Training Manual” to

add more perceived value. So, for £77.00 my customers would receive the

product in two versions: 1. eBook 2. Printed

There is an added cost to offering a printed

version. My manual cost £6.00 to print in single colour

and bound with a full colour outer cover. And postage was around £2.50. So there would be additional costs of £8.50. But when charging £77.00 as opposed to £27.00,

those costs can easily be absorbed.

So, let’s re-cap:

I created a “How To” training manual The customer would receive the ebook and printed version

I build a basic website with a paypal button

Now it was time to sell the thing. One of the pieces of advice I did follow from

the ‘ex-spurts’ was the need for an email list. So first thing I did was open an account with

Aweber. I’m sure you know that Aweber allow you to store

email addresses within their system and send out email marketing messages to your list.

There are other services available – some better

than Aweber – but I’m more than happy with what they offer.

Having run a Mail Order business, what I did

have was a big list of customer addresses… …but NO email addresses. So, I wrote a simple A4 single sided letter to

200 customers.

As you can see, this was a very friendly, non-

pushy style letter that basically was telling the reader that I was going to see if I could make money online, and that they could join me.

Back then, this was a letter style that nobody

else was using. Everyone seemed to just be interested in the

sale, whereas all I wanted was the reader to join my email list.

Even today, this style of letter is unusual. Why? Because a lot of people/marketers think that

they should make money from every piece of marketing material they put out.

Which is stupid. Whether it was my background of Mail Order and

knowing the importance of having a list of prospects you can market to regularly, I don’t know, all I knew was that building an email list just seemed the right and sensible thing to do.

So the letter was sent to 200 people.

And I got 74 people opt into my list. It was as easy as that. Back then, it cost £24.00 per 100 letters sent. Even today, the price is still only 35p per

letter to post if you use this company: https://www.cfhdocmail.com/live/pricelist.aspx

So every person that opted into my list cost

65p. Which was probably cheaper than what all the

other marketers where paying for their PPC ads on Google for the popular keywords.

And once the person was on my email list, I sent

them a daily story-style message of what I’d been doing that day on the internet.

Each message also had a link to my ebook. And I started to sell copies of the ebook. This income was simply ploughed back into adding

more names to my list by mailing more people the A4 direct mail letter.

Next I did a 500 mailing, then a 1,000 mailing,

then a 5,000 mailing, and then a 10,000 mailing and another 10,000 mailing … and so on.

In total, I mailed 33,000 people and added 8,500

names to my list. And from my daily email messages, the list was

generating approx 30 orders for the book every week.

Or, in cash terms, £2,210.00 per week.

And within a 4 month period, I had generated

£35,360 in sales from the email list. Expenditure costs were: Mailing = £7,200 Product - £8.50 x 480 = £4,080 Resulting in a profit of around £31,280.00 Can you see what I mean about NOT chasing the

sale straight away. I built up an email list which I contacted on a

daily basis… and generated sales everyday. Now, I need to point out that I sent the A4

letter to my own database of Mail Order customers

and I appreciate that you may not have access to your own customer database.

But that shouldn’t stop you. Because I didn’t just use my own database, I

used other businesses customer databases too. Simply by renting the names. And to do this, I used a list broker called

Hilite: http://www.hilitedms.co.uk/

At Hilite you can rent names for many different

niches. They specialise in the bus opp/make money niche,

but can also supply a list for most other niches.

Either way, Hilite are the best in the business.

And that was just the start. Because, within that 4 month period I used

another marketing method. A full-blown direct mail campaign.

And an A5 order form which you can see here:

Plus I included a DL return envelope. And everything was posted 2nd class in a C5

envelope. I selected 10,000 names from my database (who

had not bought the ebook from email marketing) and mailed them the full direct mail literature.

Here’s the figures: 10K Full sales literature mailing produced 172 x

£77.00 orders = £13,244 Mailing costs = £6,480.00 Order fulfilment 172 x £8.50 = £1,462.00

Profit = £5,302.00. Next I decided to send an A4 teaser letter that

directs readers to the website. Here’s the teaser letter:

Again for this A4 Teaser letter, I used Doc Mail who at the time charged 32p per full colour letter and posting.

This time, I sent this letter to 30,000 names

from my customer database. Here are the figures: 30K teaser letter mailing resulted in 815 x

£77.00 orders = £62,755.00 Mailing costs – 32p x 30000 = £9,600.00 Fulfilment 815 x £8.50 = £6,927.50 Profit = £46,227.50 And I didn’t stop there. I went to Hilite and rented 30,000 names from

them. And mailed the A4 teaser letter to the 30,000

rented names. Here are the figures: 30K mailing resulted in 564 x £77.00 orders =

£43,428.00 List rental = £4,500.00 Mailing costs = 32p x 30000 = £9,600.00 Fulfilment 564 x £8.50 = £4,794.00 Profit = £24,534.00

From all those sales, I had to refund 52 customers = £4,004.00.

So let’s just re-cap on the marketing I did:

33,000 mailing to my customer database to build an email list

10,000 Full-blown direct mail 30,000 mailing to my customer database 30,000 mailing to rented list

Resulted in… Orders: 2,031 Overall Profit: £103,339.50 *A week later another 30 orders came in from the

email marketing I was doing. So, within the 4 month (plus 1 week) period, I’d

taken an incredible £103,339.50 + £2,555 =

£105,394.50 Which worked out about £6,200 per week. And I didn’t stop there. Within the next section, I’ll share with you how

I squeezed even more income out of the product and how I continue to sell products to those 2,031 customers.

And I reveal more secrets as to why my marketing

methods prove so successful and how you can use the same methods with any product or service you sell.

Part Three

So, continuing on from the previous section, within the 4 month period I had generated 2,031 orders (give or take)…

And with 30 orders coming in every week just

from the daily email marketing, very quickly I had built up a list of 2,750 customers who’d bought the manual.

And here’s what I did next… From the correspondence I received, it was clear

that a lot of customers wanted to sell information products online too.

The problem they had was either they couldn’t

write their own product or what was available from others (resell rights, PLR) just wasn’t good enough to sell.

So, what I decided to do was offer a licence for

others to sell the manual too. I could do this as I had launched other products

so I wasn’t worried about my sales being hit. What each licence holder would receive was:

A licence signed by me giving them permission to sell the manual Worldwide and keep 100% of all profits

A copy of all the sales literature I used

A copy of the website

And each licence would cost £297.00 (it’s still

available, but a lot cheaper now). *Even today, there are still licence holders

making sales – I know because I print the manuals for them – three licence sellers have been selling the manual online for over 6 six years and have made thousands in profit.

First thing you’ll notice is that the heading says:

“In Just 8 Months, I’ve taken Over £38,000

selling My BRAND NEW Product…” And there is a reason why I only quoted £38,000

instead of over £104,000. And it’s this: Believability. Over the years, I’ve found that the less profits

you quote the more believable your claims are… …and more realistic too. I knew that the average buyer wouldn’t do the

kind of marketing that I had done. So, using a figure of £38,000 was a more

realistic figure that licence holders could achieve themselves.

As I said before, there are licence holders who

are still making a handful of sales every week and have banked many thousands from selling the manual.

So, with the website ready, I wrote a direct

mail package that included a cover letter, an 8 page sales letter and A5 order form.

These packages were sent to the 2,750 customers. Here is the cover letter:

And here is the first page of the sales letter: The marketing costs were £1,750.00. I sold 183 licences at £297.00 each =

£54,351.00.

Everything was supplied on CD Rom so product and postage costs were £2.50 per order = £457.50.

Meaning I made a profit of £52,143.50. I achieved such a high response rate because I

was ONLY sending the sales literature to buyers of the product.

And a lot of the buyers wanted to start an

online publishing business too. So, these were the classic ‘HOT’ buyers ready to

make a payment. I also sent a number of emails to the manual

buyers email list. Here’s one email message I sent:

I send a further 10 email messages promoting the resell licence.

From my email messages, I sold a further 33

licences. More licence orders came in every week from further

direct mail and email marketing, and I think over a six week period I’d sold 245 licences.

Making a profit somewhere in the region of £70,000. Add this to the profit from the manual sales, and

over a six month period I’d made something like:

£180,000. And when you look back at what I did, there was

nothing technical, nothing remarkable… …just simple, straightforward marketing methods

that anyone can use within their own business. But… word of warning… These methods (for some unknown reason) seem to

irritate marketers who think that everything you do SHOULD be online – and nothing else.

As I’ve said a million times before,

selling/marketing online is ONE of a number of different platforms to use for generating money.

Why put all efforts into one form of marketing when

there are other platforms (some more profitable) that you should also be using.

I hope this makes sense to you. Okay, I’ve explained in detail what I did to

generate this six figure income, what I’ll now do is

reveal more of what you should be doing with your marketing.

1. The ‘laid-back’ sales text style that

engages your readers to such extents that you don’t really have to do any selling, customers literally ‘beg’ you to buy your product. (This incredibly powerful sales technique can be used for any product or service you sell)

A simple story ‘hands down’ beats sales copy that

is filled with features and benefits. I see a lot of sales copy that follows the tried

and tested rules: Headline Sub-headline Salutation Opener Bullet points – benefits Call to action P.S. And some of my sales letters are structured in this

way. But, tell a story – doom and gloom and then finish

with hope and solution – and you’ll see a rapid increase in your sales.

2. How to get cold prospects EAGERLY

wanting to buy your product without even seeing it just from reading a simply one page sales letter

Again, this is usually down to the storytelling

method.

Even if the recipient of your sales letter doesn’t know you, if you write a story that features some personal detail, then even a cold prospect will be eager to buy your stuff.

3. How NOT to come over all 'needy' and

'desperate' within your sales message. (This is a problem the majority of business owners suffer from. Usually they revert to the standard ‘price-cutting’ method. You’ll discover that price is very rarely the main issue with customers)

I see this all the time. A sales message that basically screams: “buy my

stuff, please… I’ll do whatever is required to get the sale, including reducing the price”

The way to avoid this is in the image you portray

within your sales message. In sales, it’s called… Posture. So, there is no arguing, no begging or pleading,

just the attitude: “Okay, if you don’t want this, then good luck to

you.” And when you have posture like this – where you

DON’T care whether someone buys your product or not – a funny thing happens…

People actually feel an almost irresistible desire

to have your product! There’s something magical that happens when someone

knows you don’t need their money.

Using my example of selling the resell licence, within the message, I was basically saying:

“Look, this works, here’s the proof (paypal screen

shots) it’s something that no other marketer can offer you, it’s a fast-track opportunity to start earning very quickly.

I know these licences will sell quickly, so I’d

advise you to get yours straight away. And if you don’t get yours today, then tomorrow

could be too late” It’s a confident message to deliver, and moves the

emphasis onto the buyer rather than the seller. Another method I use is to constantly quote the

number of people who have already bought the product. People naturally don’t want to miss out –

especially if they read that a number of people have already bought the product.

Again, instead of coming over all desperate and

needy, I’m saying: “Look, 54 people have already jumped in and bought

the product, I’m going to sell out fast, get yours today before it’s too late.

4. The #1 EASIEST way to get your first

sale online. (Probably the most obviously method of attracting sales – but hardly anyone knows about it)

This is a method I use quite a lot – especially if

I want to make sales very quickly. And it’s this…

Offer your product on a ‘buy now, pay in 7 days time.’

If you use Paypal for collecting payments, you can

set up a payment page with a delayed payment option. So, a person can have your product and not be

charged for 7 days (or however number you want) or they can return the product back to you.

Now, on the face of it, you might think you’ll get

a lot of orders and then a lot of returns. Wrong. Yes, you’ll get a lot of orders, but the returns

are actually quite small. So, after the ‘free’ period you’ll still be left

with far mores sales that if you didn’t offer this ‘buy now, pay later’ option.

5. Why most online marketers are

committing the BIGGEST mistake when trying to generate sales. (Most haven’t a clue what BIG mistake they are making, and will continue making it until they finally go broke)

And it’s this… Asking for the sale straight away without the means

to engage with a potential customer. Let’s take a typical marketer. They’ll advertise on Google Adwords, Banners or

Facebook. Some will send traffic direct to a sales page,

others to an opt in page.

The ones who send straight to a sales page are giving the reader just one chance to buy.

If they don’t buy, then once they go, there is no

opportunity to contact the person again. The marketers who use an opt in page are at least

doing something right. But, only last week I tested a few adverts. I entered my email address into the opt in page to

see what will happen. Usually I was sent to the place to obtain the free

information that was offered in exchange for an opt in. Then I received maybe two emails. And that was it. No more contact. From my extensive tests, it can take people 10

exposures to your sales page before they buy. That’s why I send daily emails promoting a product

for maybe 10 – 15 days in a row. And it’s the same with direct mail, I won’t just

send one letter to a person. I’ll send a letter, then a postcard, then another

letter, then another postcard until either they buy or it’s not profitable to mail the list anymore.

Again, this is something most marketers will not

do. I once sent 15 different direct mail pieces to a

list of 2,000 people. At the end, I managed to generate 800 orders.

Waaaay higher results that most marketers generate

from their once only marketing. 6. The method in making your product or

service so irresistible that you’ll enjoy sales far and above the normal rate expected within your niche industry. (I actually get a little embarrassed when having to reveal my sales numbers to other marketers, because I know they’ll not believe that I sell 20-50x more every week than they do)

It’s all down to the bullet points. But not any old bullets. These are bullets that spell out a huge benefit and

can be a headline in themselves. In other words, the bullet points need to be strong

enough to be a stand-alone headline. Combine bullets with a story-telling sales message

and you’ll have created a product or service that is far more irresistible than your competitors offer.

As an example, here are some of the bullet points I

used to sell a ‘traffic generating’ product: The 3 step approach to driving traffic, generating sales and

building a huge list. (Get these 3 things in place, and it’ll all run like clockwork on autopilot.)

The # 1 element you must include on your squeeze page that

converts 40% - 50% of traffic to opt-in to your list. (Even the most sceptical find it hard to resist and end up subscribing, and staying with you over the long-term.)

The “un-sexy” squeeze page that knocks the professional looking squeeze pages out of the park. (You’ll get to see a squeeze page that converts at 40% - 50% that has most gurus scratching their heads and wondering why their ‘slick’ squeeze pages don’t work.)

An eye-popping demonstration of adding 1,000 names to a list and

generating 100 sales. (And all the names were added to the list for free. This list can then be used to sell more products and services on a daily basis.)

How NOT to lose a THIRD of your opt-in subscribers. (This will

shock you when you realize that most marketers lose a third of their opt-in subscribers before they’ve even offered them a product.)

The secret method to increase traffic by at least 40%. (So simple, yet

most marketers don’t do this. There’s no extra effort involved, it’s more a case of being ‘in the know’ about how to generate an extra 40% of traffic.)

The most overlooked "hidden" reason why most marketers don’t

make much profit from list building. (Simple fact is, most marketers and ‘newbies’ just ‘play’ at list building. There is a certain method for generating sales from your list which you’ll discover.)

A ‘sneaky’ (and fun) way to generate extra sales from your

subscribers. (One of those ‘just give it a go’ methods and instantly receive a 10% increase in NEW sales.)

How to get cold prospects to EAGERLY buy one or more of your

products. (This is TOTALLY against what the gurus teach, but is so effective, it’s one of the only sales ‘techniques’ you’ll ever need.)

A ‘better than Google’ Adsense method. (It’s the same principle, but

you’ll NOT get banned, virtually no competition, and will add 20-50 new names to your list a day.)

Why even "newbies" are able to drive traffic, build a list and generate sales… but only if you follow simple (but VITAL) methods and techniques that you’ll learn

The Worlds greatest sales funnel. (We are talking about a sales

funnel that converts over a third of opt-ins to buy straight away, then persuade the buyers to purchase more of your products.)

A "lazy man's" way to driving traffic to your website. The ONE thing to change on your squeeze page and increased opt-

ins by 20%. (It’s so obviously, but 99% of marketers never do it and lose a ton of opt-ins. Plus, it’s not what you may think.)

potential customers that most (if not all) of your competitors won’t use, but you’ll see a big increase in sales…

… and the actually number of refund requests is

significantly lower than if you offered a 7 day, 14 day or 30 day money back guarantee.

8. Just Do It! This actually holds so many people back in life. The fear of trying something new. Crazy. You are in business to make money – simple. Don’t ever be afraid to try new or different

methods for selling your product or service. The only ‘fear’ you should have is the fear that

there is not enough hours in the day to execute all the marketing campaigns.

And then you can work on your time management and

the 80/20 rule of JUST doing the 20% of marketing campaigns that bring in 80% of your income.
