Body Paragraphs

Topic sentence that makes your claim tying your thesis to one of the specific elements of the

story (see the handout with quotes from Janet Burroway’s Imaginative Writing if you’re unsure

about what elements to write about)

Specific quote from the story you’re writing about that serves as evidence to illustrate your

point

Note: one body paragraph should also include a quote from the handout with quotes from

Janet Burroway’s Imaginative Writing. Make sure quote is cited properly and includes author

name, title of the book, and page number.

Explanation of how the evidence supports and illustrates your claim
