Big Brothers Big SistersABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

For more than 100 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has operated under the belief that

inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. As the nation’s

largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters

makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children

(“Littles”), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. We strengthen the

nation by improving the odds that children facing adversity will achieve in schools, avoid

risky behaviors, and have healthier relationships. Every day with supporters just like you

we start children on the path to succeed in life in the communities in which you live and

work.

Big Brothers Big SistersThank you to 100 Women in Hedge Funds for extraordinary leadership, philanthropy and

wisdom in selecting Big Brothers Big Sisters of America as this year’s Gala beneficiary.

The 2010 New York Gala’s proceeds will provide 1,000 children facing adversity with

professionally supported, one on one mentors. Your support will impact the children

we mentor by improving their academic achievement, self-esteem, relationships with

family and friends. At the same time mentoring reduces their incidence of risky behavior.

We are particularly grateful to Martha Dabagian, Goldman Sachs, for her outstanding

work as Gala Chair, as well as the Gala and Philanthropy Committee members. Their

extraordinary efforts have made this event a tremendous success. We are fortunate to

partner with such intelligent, conscientious, and charitable leaders of the hedge fund

community. Your tireless dedication to our partnership has begun this year and will

continue over the next several years, changing the lives of children across the nation for

the better, forever.

Our congratulations to this evening’s awardees, T. Boone Pickens, the Effecting Change

Award honoree, with whom we are privileged to be closely associated through the T.

Boone Pickens’ Foundation. We recognize its contributions and those of Mr. Pickens

to Big Brothers Big Sisters’ “military mentoring” programs. It is delightful to share the

evening with Dorothy Collins Weaver, the Industry Leadership Award honoree, whose

father served as a Big Brother and whose niece is currently a Big Sister in Miami, FL.

When the cause that brings us together is changing the trajectory of a young person’s

life for the better, forever, great things are bound to result!

Sincerely,

Karen Mathis

Dorothy Collins Weaver is CEO and Chairman

of Collins Capital. Collins Capital was co-

founded in 1995 by Mrs. Weaver to specialize

in the management of multi-manager,

multi-strategy Fund of Hedge Funds. Mrs.

Weaver is the former Chairman of the Board

of the Federal Reserve Bank in Miami. She

also served as Chairman of the Council of

Economic Advisors for the State of Florida and

was a founding Director of Enterprise Florida,

an innovative public-private partnership that

replaced Florida’s Department of Commerce. She served as Chairman of the Business

Leadership Council, Chairman of the Governor’s Commission on Education Workforce

Committee, and Chairman of the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Mrs. Weaver

was instrumental in rewriting the banking laws for the State of Florida, which resulted

in transforming Miami into an international finance and banking center.

Mrs. Weaver graduated with honors (Phi Beta Kappa) from Wellesley College where

she served on the Board of Trustees, the Investment Committee and chaired the

Finance Committee. She also served on the Investment Committee of the American

Red Cross in Washington D.C.

Mrs. Weaver has been the recipient of many awards including the “Business Leader

Hall of Fame Award”, the “Leader of the Year Award”, the “Women Who Make A

Difference Award”, the “Community Headliner Award”, “Peace and Unity Award.”

2010 Effecting Change AwardT. BOONE P ICKENS

Founder and ChairmanBP CAPITAL

Mr. Pickens, founder and chairman, BP Capital,

is principally responsible for the formulation

of the energy futures investment strategy of

the BP Capital Energy Fund, LP and the BP

Capital Energy Equity Fund, LP. BP Capital

manages one of the nation’s most successful

energy-oriented investment funds. Every $1

investors put into the energy fund managed by

BP Capital at its inception had a value of $46 at

year-end 2009, an annualized return of about

35 percent. Mr. Pickens frequently utilizes his

wealth of experience in the oil and gas industry in the evaluation of potential equity

investments and energy sector themes. In July 2008, Mr. Pickens launched “The

Pickens Plan,” a grass-roots campaign aimed at reducing this country’s crippling

dependence on imported oil. Mr. Pickens is also aggressively pursuing a wide range

of other business interests, from water marketing, alternative wind power, and ranch

development initiatives to Clean Energy, a clean transportation fuels company he

founded and took public in May 2008 (the eighth entity he has helped go public in

his career).

Throughout his professional life, Mr. Pickens has been a generous philanthropist,

giving away nearly $1 billion, including a $3 million pledge to Big Brothers Big Sisters

to establish the T. Boone Pickens Military Mentoring Program -- to provide caring

mentors to children with military parents and to engage the military community

as mentors. His giving has earned him regular spots on the Chronicle of Philanthropy’s

list of top U.S. philanthropists. The Pickens Foundation is focused on improving lives

through grants supporting educational programs, medical research, athletics and

corporate wellness, at-risk youths, the entrepreneurial process and conservation

and wildlife initiatives. In many ways, Mr. Pickens is a record-setting philanthropist.

His $165 million gift to his alma mater, Oklahoma State University, in 2005 is the single

largest gift for athletics in NCAA history, and the $7 million donation to the American

Red Cross in 2005 is the largest individual contribution in the 150-year history of

that organization.
