- Its mission is to develop new therapies for men with advanced prostate cancer- PCRC funds three research programs: Spread of Prostate Cancer, Prostate Cancer Stem Cells & Immunotherapy

Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity £1.9m

- Weston Park Hospital in Sheffield is one of only four dedicated cancer hospitals in England. Weston Park Cancer Charity supports the hospital by funding pioneering cancer research and helping to improve cancer treatments and care

Kidscan – Children’s Cancer Research £259,652

- Through groundbreaking research, Kidscan is striving to change the fact that cancer is the leading cause of death in children in the UK - A new drug designed and synthesised by University of Salford scientists supported by Kidscan has helped to discover a way of allowing healthy cells to take charge of cancerous cells and stop them developing into tumors

- It provides assistance to the incredible cancer programmes it has identified in the UK and internationally that support its mission of making a difference in the lives of cancer patients - TAC support at least ten other assistance programmes that provide educational, dietary, emotional, financial, and spiritual support as well as complementary therapies

Helen Rollason Cancer Charity £1.1m

- It aims to enable quality of life while living with cancer, offering a range of complementary therapies to patients in an environment of peace and tranquility - Through its support centres, the charity has offered nearly 8,500 appointments in the year to those touched by cancer

- Theodora Giggle Doctors trains professional performers, to work in both the hospital and with children with disabilities - It has a team of 25 trained Theodora Giggle Doctors, which visit approximately 30,000 children and their families every year

Childreach International £2.1m

- Global children’s rights movement working in five countries to ensure that children can take a stand and fulfill their own potential - Worked with 60,869 children, teachers, parents and community members in seven countries during 2014/15

The Railway Children £3.5m

- Helps to get children off the streets as fast as possible - In 2016 it contacted and protected 201,000 children at railway stations in India – 3,988 children were safely reintegrated with their families

- The Children of Sumatra was set up with the vision of helping the vast number of children who suffer from cleft lip and palate deformities living on the island of Sumatra, Indonesia - This year it has helped 70 children born with cleft deformities, experience transformational surgery with life changing results

- Palestine’s only locally run animal protection organisation, it works to improve the lives of animals and people - 1,600 vegan meals served up in Jerusalem every month

- A development charity that works with herders and farmers in Africa’s drylands (the Sahel region), promoting sustainable natural resource management - Last year it completed a three-year project in Ethiopia, decreasing flooding by 74% and increasing the average annual income by 93%

- Helps to bring education to children in rural India and communities to grow - In 2013 a clinic was built with funds from EducAid, offering the first line of care in an area where little medical assistance was available within 30 kilometres (Kolkata)

- It recognises the importance of the treasured relationship between people and pets - The charity runs 752 care homes and sheltered homes for the elderly that will accept pets

- Created to help older people and society cope with the major challenges posed by increasing longevity - Provides care homes, grief programmes, runs projects, campaigns and works to influence policy
