Edict

• Definition: An order issued publically by an authority.

• Synonyms: decree, ruling, warning• Antonyms: appeal, entreaty, petition, 

pleaSentence: The Prince issued an edict that Romeo was banished to Mantua.

Lithe

• Definition: able to bend easily without breaking

• Synonyms: flexible, limber, pliable• Antonyms: inflexible, rigid, stiff,

unyielding Sentence: In order to make the U.S. Olympic team, Gymnasts must have a lithe body, or some of their training would be impossible.

Compulsive

• Definition: caused by or suggestive of an irresistible urge.

• Synonyms:  driven, impulsive, obsessive• Antonyms: unforced, voluntary, willful

Dirge

• Definition: a composition expressing one's grief over a loss (usually a song).
