Introduction

The manufacturer and association registrations are for organisations that supply the safety information to keep the database up to date.

These registrations allows you the same rights as a rigger registration and additionally you can add, edit or delete safety information that you have uploaded.

Before you start to add, edit or delete any safety information please take some time to get used to how the basic search, and the advanced searching system works.

This is a real time safety information database so as soon as you upload it all reserve packers, riggers, dropzones etc will receive it straight away. All individual skydivers who have equipment that is relevant to your safety information will also receive it if they have registered.

This database is the launch version that provides a very useful system, however, after some more investment we will upgrade it to include options that help both manufacturers and riggers stay in control while saving a great deal of administration time.

If you find this database beneficial then please let your customers and dealers know about it.

Thank you for your interest in Skydive Safety

Advanced Search

In this example the manufacturer has chosen to search for a product that they have made. The result shows that they can edit the safety notice that belongs to them but they can’t edit the association one

Study Guide

The riggers study guide works as follows:

Select a item from the subject options so you can read about every problem that has occurred in each category.

For Example;

1. If you select closure loops you will be able to read about all the problems that have occurred when someone ignores the basic principles of how a closure loop works.

2. If you select Freebags you will be able to read about all the problems that have occurred when a manufacturer sells a Freebags that fails to do its job.

3. If you select control toggles you will be able to read about all the problems that have occurred when a skydiver incorrectly packs a control toggle.

4. If you select AAD you will be able to read about all the problems that have occurred when a manufacturer designs a designs and develops a new product.

5. Basically, all riggers and reserve packers should be aware of all of these problems so they know what to look out for when inspecting equipment.

16

Study Guide

In this example I have chosen to search for a product that has a BPA safety notice against it, which resulted in 1 safety notice.

17

Adding a Safety Notice

1. The pull down menus are self explanatory, you just select an item from each one.

2. The title should be one that identifies the problem.

3. The date is the date that you issue the safety notice

4. The from and to dates are very important. If you leave these blank then this safety notice will appear on every search for this product.

5. If you add a from and to date then only the products built between those dates will show on a search.

18

Editing a Safety Notice

1. When you select edit you can change any item in the list and then select save and it will over write the previous information

2. If you select browse to find a new safety notice on your computer then that new one will be uploaded and it will over write the existing one

3. When I check the safety notices and see that it’s a duplication from one that already exists, I will decide which one should be classed as a duplication. My preference is a manufacturers should always be the primary one but if a manufacturer is not very clear I may select an association one.
