Kent Andersson - Commodore
It’s that time again.
The Changing of the Guard is
December 9 and I hope the 2017
Board will keep the spirit of PMYC
going even in this new era.
Please don’t forget the annual
Toy Drive. Make a child happy for
the holidays.
That’s all folks.
Kent Andersson, Commodore
2010/2016
The new look of the small fishing village
La Playita now called Porto Los Cabos. 400 slip
marina (sold out), storage stackers and the
super moon on the new 120’ Bad Company.
Fishing Gordo Banks good as always.
4
Plastic Change landed in Hawaii 22 days after they
left PMYC. They had some problems with the
steering and had to be towed in by the Coast Guard.
A week later they did a presentation on the Big Island
for the surf riders. Not a lot of rest for these guys. The
vessel left Denmark 2 years ago on their research for
the plastic pollution in the ocean. As soon as the boat
is serviced, they are off for the Midway Islands.
Our burgee is still flying on the mast.

Curt Bersche - Vice Commodore
We had 45+ people attend this year’s Thanksgiving dinner at the club. We all enjoyed two 25 pound turkeys (one wrapped in bacon), hams, countless side dishes and appetizers and a never-ending supply of desserts. Everyone’s dishes were truly outstanding. I would like to thank everyone who helped set up, slice, dice, chop, carve, mash, baste, boil, stir, eat, break down, vacuum, wipe and clean the dishes. Rox and I could not have done it without the help of all of you. Your efforts were very much appreciated and exemplify the true meaning of our do-it-yourself club.
Busy month coming up:
The annual PMYC Toy Drive is in full force. We are
collecting toys again this year, so please bring an
unwrapped toy to the club or make a donation.
Please come to the Club on Friday, December 9th at 7:00
for the annual changing of the guard ceremony.
Nick Cecola will be preparing filet mignon for dinner. Lots of
new faces on the 2017 Board, so come on up and show
The 2016 Marina del Rey Holiday Boat Parade is coming up on Saturday, December 10th and the
theme is “An Animated Holiday”. Pamela Johnson and John Beabes will be entering their boat,
Invictus, this year and they will need our help building the “sets” and decorating the boat. Come up
to the Club around noon this weekend (12/3 and 12/4) to help build the sets. The boat will be
decorated on December 10th, so if you are interested in lending a hand, stop by the club at
11:00AM. After the parade, we are having a Potluck and the band Uncle Monkey will be playing.
Please sign up at the Club or email Roxann at [email protected] and let her know what dish
you will be bringing to share.
The Children's Christmas Party is December 11th at PMYC. As usual, there are a lot of fun things
planned, not to mention a visit from Santa! The sign-up sheet is posted at the club with more
details.
We will be rocking in the new year on the 31st with The Jeff Jeffries Band (a.k.a Hot Pocket Band).
Come to the Club for dinner, dancing and a champagne toast. More details to come, so watch your
email. Thank you all for a great 2016 and we will see you at the Club or on the water!
your support. Hope you can all make it.

Keith Mott - Rear Commodore
First, a moment of silence for the passing of long time club member Al Berry. He will be greatly missed and prayers to Karen and their family. Lots of events going on the next few weeks at the club and the Marina. Come out and have fun. I am on vacation back East with my family. I would like to wish all A Very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Keith Mott Rear Commodore

Tony Milazzo - Port Captain
Thanks everyone for a awesome year! You made me proud to be your Port Captain! As this year comes to a close, I would like to thank my significant other Karen Majdali for all her help & putting up with me. Thanks Kent Andersson for a great year! We will all be getting ready for 2017 now & I look forward to serving you as your Fleet Captain. Please contact me if you have any ideas or suggestions on cruises or racing. I am happy to announce that Keith Mott will be my Race Chair & is putting together an awesome race committee for the 2017 PMYC Regattas. As you know, everything we do at PMYC requires a team effort. PLEASE contact me to be part of making it happen! NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! LOL Thanks all members for your attendance on your OD Duties this year! Best ever!!! I have handed it over to Wendy Steinthal your new Port Captain for the 2017 season. Another thanks goes out
to our members & cruisers for keeping the docks full & constantly moving. We made many new friends & showed everyone the PMYC spirit!
And finally, we get to Comedy Night! PMYC Annual Comedy Night was a complete success again for the 13th year! Johnny Cardinale was back along with Dwayne Perkins, Gwenda Perez, Jared Sandler, DeEmmanuel & Johanna Petree. They came out to have fun & hangout with you & they did! Johnny C & Gwenda Perez had so much fun that the comedy ended at 10pm. They stayed for Karaoke and were still singing with everyone after 1am. Who knew
that Glen Solomon would belt out "Highway to Hell" or Pamela Johnson would sing the blues. Never saw my Karen go cowgirl before either! Darlene Koch hit some high notes & took things to another level while new member Dan Fagan killed it on a few songs! PMYC has some talent brewing! We will have to continue this next year. As you know, comedy night did not happen in one nite. Wait...it did, but not without a lot of planning & a big team effort! Thanks Karen Majdali for cooking all the food. Thanks Tina & Randi for all their help in the kitchen! Special thanks to Kent & Kia Andersson behind the bar and hospitality. Curt & Rox at the door and Rex Michel was stage manager & lights and delivered as always! Peter was in the parking lot making sure the comics had reserved VIP parking and added some comic relief to the show. New member Giancarlo became a part of this year’s team with his sound system & Karaoke equipment. Special thanks to him for coming out, setting it up and running it all night! Thanks TEAM PMYC for a great 2016 & I look forward to our 2017 season together! Tony Milazzo PMYC 2016 Port Captain

Dear PMYC,
As the Holidays draw nearer and I prepare
to move back East at the end of the
Month, I wanted to share a few
“Thank You’s” with our PMYC Family.
For Candy, I thank all of those that helped
her during her five years as House
Manager/House Mother. Kenny and Rex,
you were her un-sung heroes. Making sure the club was stocked and ready to go every day. She
couldn’t have done it without you two.
Her passion was cooking! Be it for 2 or 200 at the Club, she loved Friday Night dinners and
Monday Night Football dinners and most of all the special occasion/Holiday dinners. Thanks to
everyone who helped her. Helene and Tina you always jumped up to help cook and serve. Carol
and Debbie, thank you for the beautiful decorations for her parties.
She inspired many to step up and take on Friday Night dinners, always ready to offer any help/
guidance on how it was done.
For me, I thank those that helped me through all of the years going up the chairs. I had a most-
easy year as Commodore. Kent, thank you for your Commodore-ship guidance. You were such a
good Commodore you did it twice. Glen, thank you for two years of continued leadership, keeping
the Club on Course.
My biggest Thank You is to everyone that helped me get through the most difficult time of my life
when I lost Candy earlier this year. I had seen and participated in so many of the times we came
together to support those that lost loved ones over the years. But to experience it first hand was
almost overwhelming. The letters, cards, hugs and just being there for me got me through the
worst of it. I still miss Darlin’ everyday but cherish all of you and your friendships.
I’m moving back to the Virginia area to be near Candy’s daughter’s family and to spoil her two
Grandsons.
I will be back during the year for opening day and any other excuse I can think of.
Take care, PMYC.
I will see you Anon.
