The Great Global Warming scam
Source: Wikipedia and others
A Tale of Truth and Lies
Science or Politics? by Norman Taylor
POLITICSTell me what you want to prove. Give me
enough time and money and I’ll ‘prove’ it.
SCIENCEI will tell you my theory. You can check it
with observations in the real world.
3
Do the Facts fit the Theory?
Study the ScienceIf it (a theory) disagrees with experiment it is wrong …It does not make any difference how beautiful your guess is. It does not make any difference how smart you are, who made the guess or what his name is – if it disagrees with experiment it is wrong. That’s all there is to it.” Richard Feynman (1918-1988)
(Jointly with Julian Schwinger and Sin-Itiro
Tomonaga, received the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1965. )
4
Facts don’t fit the CO2 theoryIf the human-induced CO2 theory is right then:• Troposphere is heating up – but it isn’t• Ocean levels are rising dramatically – but they aren’t• CO2 levels would precede temperature changes – but they do not• Past CO2 levels would have been low – but they were not• Climate models would predict current cooling – but they did not

A story of plausible untruths“…the UN-IPCC Report of spring 2007 was shamelessly massaged, purporting to be a ‘consensus’ of climate scientists subject to peer review, whereas in fact there was no consensus and no peer review.”
Prof. Derek Smith, Chairman UKIP Energy & Environmental Policy Group
“As a physical scientist rather than a group psychotherapist, I cannot explain why politicians and Green campaigners so endeavour to mislead the public.”

This is a Lie
Source: http://www.john-daly.com/hockey/hockey.htm
The famous ‘hockey stick’ diagram by Dr Michael Mann used by the IPCC in 2001. More than any other factor, this kick-started the modern AGW scare.

The global temperature trend since 1998 is downward.

The Liars
Source: Wikipedia and others
Michael E. Mann is an American physicist and climatologist, currently director of the Earth System Science Center at Pennsylvania State
University. He deliberately manipulated data about the medieval warm period to
produce the infamous ‘hockey stick’ diagram ‘proving’ man-made global
warming.
Dr Phil Jones was Director of the Hadley Centre (part of the Met Office) until leaked
emails revealed that he had called on scientists to ‘abolish the medieval warm
period’. He was forced to step down when the truth was revealed. In February 2010 he
admitted that there had been previous warming periods not related to CO2. He
also revealed that there had been no global warming since 1995.

The Lie – glaciers are melting
Source: Daily Mail, 22 Jan 2010
In the face of overwhelming evidence, Dr Rajendra Pachauri (IPCC Chairman) has admitted that the claim that Himalayan glaciers would disappear in 25 years was false. It was printed as a fact in the IPCC’s 4th Assessment Report.
It came from an Indian scientist who has now admitted that the story was mere ‘speculation’.
13
The Truth – glaciers come and goThere is more glacier ice now than 200 years ago. As a result, some glaciers have been retreating since the 19th century.
Source: Alaska Geographic
As this chart of the retreat of the glaciers at Glacier Bay, Alaska shows, most
of the retreat occurred before the 2nd half of the
20th century.

The Lie – polar bears are vanishing

The Truth – ice melts every summer!
Source: Canadian Government study
The ‘vanishing bear’ pictures were taken in July and August when Artic ice always melts. Nothing to do with ‘global warming’.
Of the eleven tribes of polar bear tracked in North America, nine are
increasing in number, while the other two are stable or declining.
In 1950 there were about5,000 polar bears; in 2008 there
were around 25,000.

The Lie – Kilimanjaro ice meltingAl Gore claimed that the melting of ice on Kilimanjaro
ice proved global warming.
Source: American Scientist
18
The Truth– Kilimanjaro todayScientific analysis has shown that most of the glacial retreat at
Kilimanjaro occurred prior to 1953, before late 20th century warming. The retreat was a result of more moisture in the air and
nothing to do with global warming.

The truth - CO2 feeds life
Source: Science & Public Policy Institute
Carbon dioxide is a naturally-occurring substance that is plant food. With sunlight, chlorophyll, and water, it is an essential ingredient in plant photosynthesis, without which there would be little or no life on Earth

27
Why computer models get it wrong
Computers have been “taught” that global temperature rise is due to the greenhouse effect. This is a lie.
Source: Syun-Ichi Akasofu of the International Arctic Research Center at University of Alaska Fairbanks
Climate-modelling computers don’t decide if man-made CO2 changes the climate The modellers tell them so!
28
How the Met Office gets it wrong
• Assume that man-made CO2 drives climate change• Assume that natural cyclic factors are unimportant• Assume that earth is heating up when it is not• Assume that oceans are warming when they are not• Assume current trends will continue; ignore technology changes.

CO2 doesn’t do much
Source: Peter Taylor, Ethos
Greenhouse gases – 20% of which:Water vapour - 36% to 72%Carbon dioxide – 9% to 26%Methane – 4% to 9%Others – 3% to 7%
Sun cycles – 30%
Cloud cover – 25%
Ocean cycles – 25%
Other cycles – ?
31
These are big drivers of climate…
Orbital - 100,000 year cycle- 3% distance change = 20 to 30% variation in energy received
Axial - 41,000 year cycle- Affects summers and winters
Wobble - 23,000 year cycle- Now suggests coming ice age
Solar energy - 1,500 year cycle- Long-term output changes
Sunspots - 11 year cycle- Short-term output changes
Sun’s EM radiation - 70 year cycle- Short-term output changes
32
… and Ocean Cycles
El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) – irregular 4-to-5 year cycle- Increases global temperatures
Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO) – 30 year cycle- Decreases global temperatures
Arctic Oscillation (AO) – irregular 60-to-70 year cycle- Positive phase (1989-1995) increased temperatures over Scandinavia and Siberia, cooled Greenland
North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) – irregular 60-to-70 year cycle- Positive phase (1989-1995) increased temperatures over eastern USA, cooled Greenland

34
Why is the world cooling 1?• Global temperatures in 2008 were lower than in 2007 due to the cooling effect of the La Nina current in the Pacific• It contributed to torrential rains in Australia and to some of the coldest temperatures in memory in snow-bound parts of China.
Global temperatures have not risen in the 11 years since 1998 when El Nino last warmed the world. El Nino produced a temporary blip
in early 2010 but that effect was only temporary.Source: Michel Jarraud , World Meteorological Organisation Mar 2008 and 2010
35
Why is the world cooling 2?Scientists now predicting a 'Little Ice Age‘ (June 2011). Average temperatures in Britain could fall by 2 °C, according to Mike Lockwood, professor of space environment physics at Reading University, because of a drop in the amount of sunspot activity.

It’s clear that natural cycles determine climate – not mankind
36
The Lie – climate deniers are bribed
Quote: Dr. Michael Tuckson
“Leading deniers are funded by the coal and oil companies or anti government, anti-science ideologues. Deniers are rarely practicing scientists, and hardly try to learn.”
37
The Truth – where the money goes
Source: Dr David Evans ICCC 2009
Sceptics and big oil companies:
$2 million per year on anti-AGWBig government and greens:
$2 billion per year on pro-AGWFinance industry (bankers & carbon credit traders):
$120 billion traded last year, the market is exploding
38
The Truth – many sceptics are scientists
Source: ICCC conference
Dr David Evans, a distinguished climate scientist, has moved from being a believer in man-made global warming to a sceptic. He says:
“We now know it is not CO2.”
39
Too much money hereThe UN conference in Cancun in December 2010 pledged $600 billion of your money to ‘counter effects of global warming’. It is actually a
scam to promote a ‘New World Order’ where we are ruled by the unelected.
Sources: http://www.vid3o.net/ , the insider.org
40
The money is spent on bureaucrats
Source: http://www.qando.net
The United Nations budget for Haiti is $732.4 millionTwo-thirds goes on salaries and perks for bureaucrats
41
Not enough money here
Source: Haiti Today, International Rescue Committee
More than a year after the Jan 2010 earthquake, there are 1.3 million homeless in Haiti. Cholera is on the increase.
Haitians need Buildings – not Bureaucrats
42
Why some of ‘them’ lie to us Big Government & Greens want to
- cut reliance on non-renewable fuels from unstable countries- justify higher taxes on (spurious) environmental grounds- build a New World Order – run by the unelected
University & Government Scientists tend to believe in government, dislike business (many are Marxists) need government funding for their work need to publish dramatic research results to further careers treat ‘ordinary people’ with disdain
Journalists need easy access to: scare stories – ‘bad news sells papers’ and TV programmes
It is known that climate change is too complicated to be driven by a single factor. AGW propaganda is political not scientific.
43
In summary …There is, and has always been, climate change - the result of complex and chaotic interactions of many factors. Changes in the sun, clouds, earth & ocean surfaces are the likely causes.
44
The threat to our freedom
“As someone who lived under communism for most of my life, I feel obliged to say that the biggest threat to freedom, democracy, the market economy and prosperity at the beginning of the 21st century is not communism or its various softer variants.
Communism has been replaced by the threat of ambitious environmentalism…
Man-made climate change has become one of the most dangerous arguments aimed at distorting human efforts and public policies in the whole world.”
Source: President Vaclav Klaus of the Czech Republic, March 2007
45
The false philosophy of bureaucrats• The people are ignorant• They can’t understand the issues• They act unwisely
• as individuals• in business• in nation states
• Democracy has failed• replace it with a post-democratic society
• The people need to be directed• by the ‘great and good’ – like us
• We need a New World Order• Controlled by experts – not the elected
46
What should we be doing? Continue research into climate change
o we need to know much more than we know now Boost technology to cut use of non-renewable & fuels
o use ‘whole chain’ measurements to iudge effects Back projects to prevent or limit effects of natural catastrophes
o employ workers – not bureaucrats New projects to prevent diseases, give essentials of life to all Limit population growth by stimulating economic growth
o richer populations have fewer children
Regain our independence from
unelected bureaucrats
