to neip our town. A program that goes on, week after week, regardless of elections— such as the strong d rive we made several •years ago to secure a post office for Lyndhurst Breslin, incidentally, has made this a plank in his platform for election, a lthough he did not lift a hand w h e ^ w c tried to do it between

To date, the only thing we can »ay about Breslin is that he wants to be elected but can t think ofa good reason why. Aside from his original announcement that he v. quid seek election, he hasn't marie ¡\nu»rtive statement L is teners at Mis m w tm p havc been subjected to a gush of p la titude on his high ideals for public officials. but he can't get around th< fact that he sat on the* Board of Commissioners for four year? and never opened his mouth He porters can still remember hirr »t those meetings— with his face on his hand, acting very boreti with it all.

O f the 13 candidates in thi field, Breslin would be the las' one this paper would support W e say this although we have supported him many times foi other positions For example, wi were behind him when he triec for the East Rutherford District Court appointment, and also foi the Assistant Prusecutorship he did get. W e may support hirr. again for some job we feel he i r

qualified fo r But never as ' fa Commissioner

Breslin is unfitted by temper ament to be a Commissioner At i f us remember when he was ir charge of the W P A in Lyndhurst and hqw badly he bungled thi job

I t was a job that c a l l e d for understanding arid p a t i e n c e Many 1 of our decent resident: were in financial distress and when t h e y s o u g h t aijl from B res lm, he p o u r e d A b u s e on t h e m am' m a d e them f e e l l i k e beggars I t

Lyndhurst H. 5 . N ew s

By Lucy Di CtunUlo

Hello, there!It 's tradition for L H S to lose

the first game, so, just not to be different, we succumbed to Lodi on the baseball diamond last F r i day. Clouds were threatenening in the sky, but that didn’t prevent the game from getting un der way. We liked the way little Buddy Thorne caught that high fly. Sa ilor Gene Ramassy was around to see his former classmates toss the ball around.

No, they weren’t new mail carriers! They w ere the G ir l Lead

e r s delivering the c 1 o t h i ng drive circulars to every house in t o w n lastW e d n e s d ay. M r . B u r k e

wrote the club a letter tha»k- ing them forthe wonderful job they did.

T h e m a n w ith the tape

was around last Tuesday to get the seniors measured for capsand gowns. W e had our firstCommencement practice Monday. It was decided that the banquet is to be formal and that we may gd on an outing June 15. if the Board of Education approves.

Try-outs are being held for the “ Lighthouse” staff tomorrow afternoon in Room 30. Here's a chance for you potential writers to show your stuff!

•Congratulations to Louise Tor- on and her team who are champs of the Jun ior Vo lleyball League! Ed ith Earl's team came in second. This just about finishes up vo lleyball for the year, and the girls are now turning their interests towards softball, ping pong, and archery

Thanks to the janitors who helped carry the heavy ping pong j

tables to the gym. and to M r I Costellano who painted those brightly colored screwdrivers w e ! are using as points-of-aim.

W h y does Fred G ilbert laugh so heartily at the least little thing that’s said in P A D class? Miss Fav ie r can’t figure it out.

France, A p ril 14, 1945. Dear Editor:

Fo r the past five years I have been reading your paper while in the army. A part of this was done while in A frica and Sicily, and then I returned to the U SA

while. Now I ’m back over again, this time in Fiance. I ’d appreciate it very much if you would njail me the paper, because it not «finly keeps the G.I. from Lyndhurst up on the latest news, from home, but it helps him w-

.cate any of his buddies and friends who may be located near his station It «Iso may induce some of Viis friends at home to w rite him a letter, because mail over here is rated very highly

noticed in one of the recent s a notice of the death of

Henry Biederman This sure -ail news because he was a fellow and thought a lot of

the fellows back home. I ’m sure his fam ily w ill accept my deepest sympathy.

er published an article of a sol- ( d ier’s name that had been er-: roneously' listed on the Town Honor Ro ll as being killed in action. I w rite now to confirm th e ; report that it had a l l bein a mis-1 take, for you see— that solder was M E !

I am happy to say I'm enjoying good health, and if anything, am more physically fit now than when leaving for the arm y over ; two and a half years ago.

Being in an Airborne Division.* we have been moving about quite a bit, having seen action in the : “ Bulge.” We have now crossed the Rhine by glider and paST chute in the airborne invaskai oT Germany. To fly by g lider into Je r r y ’s bqck yard is a sensation I shall leng remember.

This mission was well p lanned: a n d things ran surprisingly | smooth. Even the mail, which is usually held Up. reached us in .a . few days Ironically enough one ’ of the first letters I received was my election ballot, Even here in j the land of hatred and destruction 1 am given the chance to abide ,by the principles ?nd ideals for which so many of our boys j have given so much

I realize a soldier's vote tan only be counted as one vote, of- 1 fieially. But I ’m sure Mr?. Paw- loski. Mr. Burke, and the other' men would be tru ly surprised at the number of votes east if a doughboy's thoughts and gratitude could be recorded.

D ear S ir: (.Ju st a short note to advise you

of my change of address. Recently I left the “ Va lley Is le” of Maui and l am now stationed on another of the Hawaiian Island group, here in the Central Pacific area. The last Leader to catch : up with me was the copy of Feb 2 2 And when I say that I read every line in it, I mean that I covered the front page features, which included the Board of Education’s battle betwixt the members, on the distaff side! Then. I read the “ Notes” on page two. and the advertisements, and that i “ Major and M inor Notes" by A K * (W ho is A. K ? j I enjoyed the aforementioned c o l u m n very much. And of course I never fail to spend a few minutes with A rtie LaCqur's " I t ’s a Funny W orld ." Then I visit w ith Miss D iCam illo and am soon "hep " to ' what's' cookin' at good old L H S I Ih ro w s c through the- movie ads and/ notice that pur current films" around the Hawaiian area arc 1 approximately 2 months behind ! the programs of the Ritz. R iv o li . , and Passaic theatres. I

Thanks again for the Leader I Best regards to everyone in the j old home town
