4. Research activities Research experience allows undergraduate students to better understand published works, learn

to balance collaborative and individual work, determine an area of interest, and jump start their

careers as researchers. Through exposure to research as undergraduates, many students discover

their passion for research and continue on to post graduate studies and faculty positions. Our

academic institution has enhanced its undergraduate curriculum by promoting research as

mandatory part of curriculum to students who might not otherwise know how to get involved.

The details of their research activities are as follows:

Research Project by BSc Students – Sem VI- 2018

Our final year BSc students are working on a research project in their last semester focusing on

“Waste Water Treatment” which includes Treatment of sewage wastewater using water hyacinth;

Investigation on the performance of sewage treatment plant; Applications of water hyacinth as an

adsorbent for removal of BTB dye from aqueous solution; Applications of Mushroom powder as

an adsorbent for removal of BTB dye from aqueous solution and Experimental study for biogas

production using water hyacinth. With these research projects students will learn the usage of

water in everyone’s life and how to treat the wastewater to improve the quality of lives.

Participation in Anveshana-2018:

Anveshana is a Science & Engineering competition which will culminate in a Fair where the

students will exhibit their projects/models. Our 2 groups of student from Department of

Chemistry participated in this mega completion in Feb 2018.

First group from MSc 2nd semester Ms. Shrutika and Ms. Sakshi presented their project entitled

with “Energy recovery from crop residue by using nano particles”

Our 2nd group from BSc IV semester Ms. Ritika Choudhary, Ms. Ruchika Batra and Mr. Manish

Sharma presented their project entitled with “Waste to wealth approach by using microalgae”

Participation in Innoskills

On occasion and celebrations of the founder’s day, April 3rd 2018, students from department of

chemistry, MRU are going to participate in Innoskillson the event SRIJAN entitled “ Natural

Clay pot filters using natural kitchen waste as adsorbents”.

Students of M.Sc Ist year Chemistry, Ms.Nikita, Priyanka Yadav, Poonam, Satender under

guidance of Dr.Prem Kishore Patnala were planned and prepared pot filters to produce cheap

potable and natural purified water. Ritika Choudhry from B.Sc. 4 th semester, Sakshi Gupta and

Shrutika Saini from M.Sc. First year is going to present a working model on “ Upgradation of

Innoskills-2018: 3 MSc Students participated: News covered by Dainik Jagran

On occasion and celebrations of the founder’s day on April 3rd 2018 a group of 3 students from

M.Sc., Department of Chemistry, Manav Rachna University under supervision of Dr. Prem

Kishore Patnala participated in Innoskills on the event SRIJAN.

The project was entitled with “Natural Clay Pot Filters using Natural Kitchen Waste as

Adsorbents”. The team used some natural adsorbents: from kitchen waste such as vegetable and

fruit peel, in different pots to purify waste water. The concept was well admired by the visitors as

it’s among one of the economic and simple way to produce cheap potable and natural purified

water; especially for rural areas. The concept is to purify boring water containing heavy metals

and other impurities causing bad health effects. Dainik Jagran covered the Innoskills: where

these people were find this project very impressive and highlighted the work of our team in their

article.
