SSATPMISSION STATEMENT
The SSATP is an international partnership to facilitate policy development and related capacity building in the transport sector in Sub-Saharan Africa. Sound policies lead to safe, reliable and cost-effective transport, freeing people to lift themselves out of poverty,
and helping countries to compete internationally.

Session about TRB International activities during World Conference in Transportation Research in Berkeley 2007. George Giannopoulos is organizing a session entitled: Issues of International Transport Research Cooperation: Strengthening the EU/US transport research cooperation.

Sustainable Urban Mobility in Asia (SUMA)
There is a need for a strong platform in Asia where various organizations can sit together to exchange information on SUT and develop a critical mass of change in favor of SUT
An Asian SUT regional network can help to build capacity in national and local governments as well as private sector to plan and implement SUT programs and projects
Does SUMA the potential to become the leading regional initiative on urban transport?
Will a TRB in Asia help in establishing such an Asian network? ---- Yes!

Identify Possible International Members We are looking for volunteers

Identify research needs of international community & promote addressing those needs. Survey international organizations to identify top
transportation research needs & share those needs with the international community.
Invite International organizations to establish a network for international project advisory panels (to participate in those research projects)
Explore the possibilities of establishing an International cooperative research programs (Pool-funds program.)
