And in the spirit of New Year’s resolutions, we will begin 2018 with a modified ministry structure. One of the directions I was told by the search committee that Redeemer wanted to move toward was to grow spiritually. There are many ways one can grow spiritually and there are ways to do them individually and in community. One of the ways that I believe we can grow spiritually is when we reprioritize our lives. I certainly did that and I found myself in an unexpected path into or- dained ministry. Before I reprioritized, I certainly was not the model Christian. When I talk about reprioritizing, I’m referring to what we consider to be our top three important things in life. Believe it or not, when I was a beauty consultant for Mary Kay, we were encouraged to have our top three life priori- ties be God first, Family second and Career third. As I shifted my life priorities, suddenly the excuses for not taking time for God, did not happen anymore. I began to realize God isn’t reserved for only Sundays and for when I felt like getting out of bed. Certainly one doesn’t have to attend church to put God as their number one priority, but I certainly find for me, worshipping with other people keeps me accountable and I find it much more enjoyable. We worship together not just for our individual selves, but also for others who need our presence in their lives. In my understanding, one way of growing spiritually is to move from church is something you may attend on Sunday morning to church is a committed lifestyle. And in order to shift our priorities, we, as a church have to offer the opportunities to make God a lifestyle. Our ministry teams are the backbone of the church. What they do, is what makes Redeemer a Christian organization; from worship, to education, to sharing the good news. Without the ministries offering opportunities to spiritu- ally grow in community, we tend to seek community in other ways such as sports, clubs, membership groups, etc. and they slowly take over the priority list. A recommitment to God first through Redeemer’s ministry teams can move us into bringing a message of hope and love to a divided world. We can do our part to live out our faith in our community. We can bring God’s light into 2018! And we can certainly create ministry teams that are enjoyable and exciting; something that we want to spend our time serving on. The ministry team structure has been reorganized and we are looking to begin 2018 with every person at Redeemer having some part in this new struc- ture. We are committed to working together as teams to spiritually grow togeth- er. Whatever your interests are and however much time you are willing to give, there is a place for you to be involved in the life of our church. On Sunday, January 7 th the council appointed team of Caryn Easterling, Debbie Hecky, Mandi Kirby and I, will share the ministry team structure and invite you to take part in our spiritually alive and growing congregation! Happy New Year, Pastor Julie!

In a time of new beginnings, we find ourselves beginning our first new year together!

I certainly did that and I found myself in an unexpected path into or-dained ministry. Before I reprioritized, I certainly was not the model Christian.

When I talk about reprioritizing, I’m referring to what we consider to be our top three important things in life. Believe it or not, when I was a beauty consultant for Mary Kay, we were encouraged to have our top three life priori-ties be God first, Family second and Career third.

Without the ministries offering opportunities to spiritu-ally grow in community, we tend to seek community in other ways such as sports, clubs, membership groups, etc. and they slowly take over the priority list.

The ministry team structure has been reorganized and we are looking to begin 2018 with every person at Redeemer having some part in this new struc-ture. We are committed to working together as teams to spiritually grow togeth-er. Whatever your interests are and however much time you are willing to give, there is a place for you to be involved in the life of our church. On Sunday, January 7th the council appointed team of Caryn Easterling, Debbie Hecky, Mandi Kirby and I, will share the ministry team structure and invite you to take part in our spiritually alive and growing congregation! Happy New Year, Pastor Julie!

The purpose of the prayer family is to share our concern and support at times other than crisis times. Ways to do that are to include the person or family in your prayers during the week by sending a note, talking to them at church, a telephone call or email. The names are chosen at random, but sometimes seem by design in that it has come at a particularly appropriate time for them. It is our hope that this will continue to be meaningful.

Pastor’s Report

PLEASE NOTE: HIPAA (The U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) provides for patient privacy in hospitals and nursing homes. What that means for Pastoral Care is that no one will be given information about patients without their consent. It also means that even if patients are asked about church affiliation during the admission process, no one from the health care institution will be contacting the church.

If you or a loved one would like or expect a pastoral visit, you or someone designated by you must call the church and let us know. Otherwise we have no way of knowing about your situation. We are more than willing to provide pastoral care, but need your help in keeping us aware of your needs.

Our stewardship campaign is about to wrap up with some final numbers. It looks as if we will be close in meeting enough estimated giving to cover our must have operating expenses. We are looking at creative ways to generate additional funds to get some funding for our ministry teams.

The council appointed team to work on the restructuring of our ministry teams has been meeting almost week-ly. They presented their work at an all team meeting and have drafted some revised wording. They are current-ly going through the results of the time and talent cards to match up interested people with appropriate oppor-tunities.

We are in the season of advent and what we are offering for Wednesdays and Sundays has been well received so far. I am looking for further feedback on those for the future. I will experience my first Christmas program here and I am looking forward to it.

Respectfully Submitted by Pastor Julie
