SEC 3 OPTIONS FOR SCIENCE
(EXPRESS)
OPTIONS
Science Combination Remarks
2 Pure Sciences
- Chemistry and Physics
• Most challenging
• Needs to score A1 in Science and
Math, and do well in EL, Humanities
Pure Science + Comb.Science
- Biology + Sc(Phy/Chem)
• If interested in Biology
• Involves 3 Science disciplines
Combined Science
- Science(Phy/Chem)
• Generally easier to score quality
grades
• Will be able to do one other subject,
namely, POA, D&T, F&N, Art

PRACTICAL EXAMINATION
Candidates will be assessed in the following skill sets:
Skill Set 1 Performing and Observing - perform an experiment using familiar apparatus, materials and
techniques safely and methodically- make relevant and accurate observations or measurements- record results in an appropriate manner
Skill Set 2 Analysing- process results, - identify and comment on a key source of error- draw conclusions consistent with obtained results
Skill Set 3 Planning- analyse a practical problem and produce an appropriate
procedure for the investigation
SCHOOL-BASED SCIENCE PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT
How to decide ?
1. Ability in Science
2. Interest in Science
3. Career choice
4. Post-secondary options
