5. PERSONNEL

Radiographs will be evaluated by technicians qualified and certified as Level II for radiographic method in accordance with ISO 9712/EN 473 or equivalent and Saipem Work Instruction WI-SPA-Weld-001-E.

6. RADIOGRAPHIC TESTING PROCEDURE6.1 RADIOGRAPHIC PROCEDURE QUALIFICATIONThe radiographic procedure to be applied shall be qualified: For SWSI technique, using Both film side and source side IQIs will be used in order to carry out a comparison of radiographic sensitivities; For DWSI and SWSI using Film side IQIs.For RT Procedure Qualification, 2 radiographs shall be taken.A report similar to the one included in Attachment 2 shall be fulfilled.

6.2 RADIATION SOURCE

X-ray and Gamma-ray (Iridium 192).

6.3 EQUIPMENT

6.3.1 Internal Exposure (SWSI technique)

ProductionBattery powered x-ray crawler fitted with panoramic tube 180 KV/3mA head (air cooled), or equivalent.

WPQPanoramic X-Ray tube 300 KV-5mA (air cooled, focal spot size 5 x 0.5 mm) with separate High voltage generator an control unit or equivalent.

6.3.2 External Exposure (DWSI and DWDI technique)

ProductionDirection X-Ray tube 300 KV.Gamma-Ray apparatus with remote control using Ir-192.

6.4 TECHNIQUES

6.4.1 Single Wall Single Image (SWSI)

Panoramic shot with radiation source at the axis of the pipe, single wall exposure, single wall viewing (Figure 1).

6.4.2 Double Wall Single Image (DWSI)

Sketch of DWSI Technique is shown in Figure 2 and Figure 3.It shall be used when the access of the radiation source in the pipe is not permitted.DWSI technique using X-Ray sources will be used: On 6 and 10 OD welds, when SWSI can not be applied (for example tie-in welds).DWSI technique using Gamma-Ray sources will be used: During Offshore Production phase on 2 and 3 OD welds.

6.4.3 Double Wall Double Image (DWDI)Sketch of DWDI Technique is shown in Figure 4.This technique will be used during Welding Procedure Qualification (WPQ) for 2 and 3 OD welds.

6.5 FILM TYPE

During WPQ : AGFA D7 (or equivalent) when SWSI and DWSI technique are applied; AGFA D5 (or equivalent) when DWDI technique is applied.

During production: AGFA F6 (or equivalent) when SWSI technique are applied; AGFA D7 (or equivalent) when DWSI technique with X-ray sources is applied; AGFA D5 (or equivalent) when DWSI technique with Gamma-ray Sources is applied.

6.6 INTENSIFYING SCREENS

Front and back lead screens with a thickness between 0,02mm and 0,2mm will be used for AGFA D7 and D5.Fluorometallic screens for AGFA F6.

6.7 IMAGE QUALITY INDICATOR

6.7.1 IQIs Type

Wire type IQIs, in accordance with EN 462-1 will be used. IQI wire sizes and wire numbers are reported in table 1.

Sensitivity related to IQI placed on source side will be in accordance with ISO 17636 and table 6 of ISO 13847 (reported in Table 2 below). During RT procedure qualification the wire to be seen when the IQI is placed on film side will be evaluated.
