What is important for a grade 10 learner?
1. Commitment and enthusiasm to achieve his/her goalsand cooperate with the subject teacher
2. To hand in work on time and be prepared for each lesson and managing his/her time well from the beginning
3. If the work load or a subject turns out to be overwhelming engage in talks with the subject teacher
4. Subject changes have to be applied for with the Oberstufenkoordinator Mr Seiwert (German stream) and the Head of IEB Mrs Werth (English stream)

Why is grade 10 important?
-> Grade 10 curriculum is a preparation phase for grade 11,
a very important year since the end year’s report marks are used for application at universities in South Africa.The challenge of getting “in” should not be underestimated.Important: a pass in Germany is 50%<
IEB subject choice:
1. Minimum of 7 subjects need to be chosen2. Advanced courses do not count into the 7 subjects but
is regarded as additional subject (universities do count it in the top 6 though)
3. 40% in English and 30% in Mathematics to pass Grade 10
1. End-year Exam: to prepare learners for the final exam procedure and ensure that a whole year’s curriculum aspects are retained by learners and assessable

The regulations from the KMK regarding the NSC validation as “Hochschulreife”
For the learner to qualify, the following is required:
• 7 subjects with at least 50%• Out of the 7 required subjects the following needs to
be chosen:• German, Mathematics, Life Orientation, English,
one Natural science (Physical Science/Life Science)and two additional subjects for example Afrikaans, French, History, Geography, Business Studies,
Accounting, Visual Art, Design.
