General

JWST Mission CDR moved to 12-16 April 2010 UK planning to start FM integration at beginning of March

- either with IOC or SPO- depending which arrives first;- both delivery forecasts are close.- ATC planning extended working when DGAs delivered

in order to turn round SPO as soon as possible. FM FPE

- JPL has confirmed the mods do work on the prototype new analogue board for the FPE

- FM boards are/were (Dec) being populated.- boards undergoing extended testing at JPL but no technical issues found- work around is to go to gravity release test without FPMs if JPL cannot

deliver FPS on time.

MTS and ISIM

MTS work at RAL progressed well- MTS testing completion at RAL awaiting repair/replacement

of failed control boards- likely to be late January

Successful TIM for MIRI at ESTEC early DEC - concerns about ISIM-level test limitations cleared- David Barrado’s MTS update presentation

- No more MTS issues ISIM test planning

- lot of follow up will be needed- another meeting at ESTEC on 8th Jan (Martyn/Alistair)- ISIM Optics Test external review (March)

FM IOC Contamination problem

management meeting at CSL on 21st October with OIP, CSL, Belspo, Prodex and EC participation with a very positive outcome

- FM IOC has been dismantled- all mirrors have been cleaned- structural parts bake out- re-integration moved to CSL

revised alignment procedure reviewed with Martyn & Jose FM IOC assembly complete to POM alignment 2nd week of Dec

- interference in SPO box mirror and POM placement resolved- cal box has been checked and its shims are in manufacture

TRR for functional and optical performance tests to follow assembly New issue on tower alignment found in Dec

- under investigation- Status ??

DW/GW misalignments

DW/GW misalignments after vibration DGA measurements showed that initial explanation was incomplete Ratchet arm assembly measured and shown not to be cause Fastener update

- higher-strength fastener screws- Details ???

Both FM DGAs reassembled early Dec- vibration test with DGA-A mid Dec- post vibration functional checks and DGA-B pre-vibration checks

to be carried out first week of January.

Latest ... small issue with DGA-A leading to delay of ~1-2 weeks

MIRIM

Cryo #5 is over and went pretty well

Summary of all the tests which have been performed on MIRIM FM:

WARM tests:- alignment,- image quality@visible

COLD tests:- DISTORTION GRID:

- image quality at 7.7μm

- IMAGING:- focus test,- flat, background- microscan at 5.6μm in whole FoV, with /without pupil shear- PSF in each filter (whole filter band)- spectral scan of each filter band (except 21μm and 25.5R).- FoV dependence of band pass

CORONO:- PSF in each filter- Spectral scan of filter band (except 23μm)- Rejection factor VS centring in each filter. Rough estimation of the rejection

factors w.r.t. filter bands:- 115 @ 10.65 μm- 250 @ 11.40 μm- 092 @ 15.50 μm- Lyot: data analysis still ongoing.

LRS:- Broad Band spectrum, slit and slitless, with atmosphere, with/without blocking

filter or plastic (foil with features in mid-IR)- Spectral resolution, slit and slitless- Wavelength registration dependence with position in the slit.

MIRIM-cont

Data analysis ongoing. Delivery preparation phase started. The manufacturing of the LRS filter is progressing but the delivery will

likely be delayed to January. As a consequence, the baseline now is to deliver MIRIM FM as foreseen (end of January) but the Coronagraph FP will be delivered in parallel or later and will be mounted at RAL (the 2 deliveries could occur at the same time but we don't want to delay the main delivery because we have to wait for the bake-out).

The MIRIM FM DRB is still foreseen to take place at the end of January as well.

The repaired RGA has been actually delivered at CEA;bakeout to start week 1.
