Our robot shoots balls by passing themthrough 2 sets of high speed wheels with one set at a constantspeed, and the top set to variable speeds to change distancebut always less than the bottom to create backspin on the ball.To obtain balls from the playing field, our driver drives balls intoa gap in our robot's frame with the aid of a camera, where theballs are then driven by our polyurethane round bets.Photosensors detect what positions the balls are in, which thentell specific belts to stop moving to keep them in the right place. When our driver decides to shoot, they aim with anothercamera above our shooter wheels and then the belts bring theballs into the shooter. The shooter is on a rotatable ball bearingto aim our shots. On the front of the robot there is a pneumaticpower bridge tipper. The bridges are another major part of thegame, and our tipper made of hockey sticks creates an inclineplane shape that allows us on the bridge quickly. When itdeploys, door latches lock it into place with servomotor"handles" to unlock the latches and allows the tipper to moveback into place.

Robot Description
Boomer is a robot designed for the Skills Canada challenge“Panning for Gold”. We were tasked with creating a robot thatcould place the nuggets(wooden cubes) into the pan, while thepan could possibly be moving. We designed our robot withsimplicity in mind. Starting with a 3D Solidworks model of the robot, we designed a basic parallel arm system, and a quick claw. Our robot is 18.5 inches tall allowing us to escapetouching the top rail, missing it by only 1/2 of an inch. We builtcustom made transmissions to allow us to have the perfectspeed to pick up as well as place the blocks. In this challengespeed was not the only factor we had to deal with. We madea custom frame out of welded one inch aluminum tube. This was because if boomer were to get hit the internalstructure would not be damaged. With software we createdlimits for the claw and arm, as well as have a variable speedsystem. By combining all of these features of the robot we wereable to create a fast nimble robot that can place nuggetsquickly but also defend when necessary. From all of this boomerwas created.

The robot is a rectangular prism, as that is the shape that wouldbe the most efficient in crushing recyclables. Also, we wouldbe mirroring the shape of a recycle box. One of the functionsof the robot is that we can use a recycling box as the storageand mount the robot on top of it so that when a person throwsa can or recyclable in the robot, it will be crushed and dumpedin the recycling bin. We use a vertical motion set which allowsus to move the steel plate to crush the recyclables.
