BAM Central ConfigurationBefore you follow these instructions to configure Optimize you should already have:

installed the Optimize engines, MwS, MwS UIs for Optimize and Database Scripts ran the dbInstaller to create the Optimize databases configured and launched My webMethods Server

Start the 3 Optimize Engines1. Analytic Engine:

1. Launch a Command prompt run the following two commands: 2. cd C:\Program Files\webMethods7\Optimize\analysis\bin\ 3. startupAnalyticEngine.bat

2. Prediction Engine: 1. Launch a Command prompt run the following two commands: 2. cd C:\Program Files\webMethods7\Optimize\prediction\bin\ 3. startupPredictionEngine.bat

3. Web Service Data Collector: 1. Launch a Command prompt run the following two commands: 2. cd C:\Program Files\webMethods7\Optimize\dataCollector\bin\

Page 5: 1 Installation Configuration

3. startupDataCollectorEngine.bat

Create a new Database Pool1. In My webMethods Server, go to Administration > System-Wide > Environments > Database Pool

Configuration 2. Click “Add Pool” 3. In the Pool Information panel, click “Other” beside the Name menu, and name the new pool "Local" 4. In Database Connection Panel

1. RDBMS – Oracle 2. URL - jdbc:wm:oracle://localhost:1521;ServiceName=oracle9 3. Database User – Administrator 4. Database Password – manage

5. Click on Test and then scroll down and you should see "Test Passed!" at the bottom of the browser window.

6. Click on Save

Create a new Optimize Environment1. In My webMethods, go to Administration > System-Wide > Environments > Define Environments 2. Click on Add Environment and set the following fields:

1. Environment Name - Local 2. Description – Local

3. Click Save 4. Click on the new hyperlink Local or use the Edit icon on the right hand side 5. In the Design Servers panel:

1. Click Add from Template 2. Choose Optimize for Process 3. Click OK and it adds five Logical Server Names. The window should look like this:

Page 6: 1 Installation Configuration

1. Click on the Define Hosts tab 2. Click Add Host and set the following fields:

1. Display Name – Local 2. Host Name – machine name e.g. winxpora-tahiti (Do not use "localhost", use the computer

name listed in My Computer > Properties > Computer Name. No need to include the webmethods domain portions.)

3. The IP Address is looked up and filled in automatically. 4. Click Ok

3. Click on the Map Servers tab 4. For each of the five logical servers

1. Click the Edit Button, which will open a new window 2. Click on the host name in the list on the left (winxpora-tahiti in this example) 3. Click the right arrow to move this host to the list on the right. 4. Click Save. 5. When you're done all five, the window should look like this:

Page 7: 1 Installation Configuration

1. Click on the Map Endpoints tab 2. Click Save to accept all the defaults 3. Click on the Map DB Pools tab 4. Select the name of the new DB pool (Local) from the POOL pick list, for each of the DB components 5. When you're done all five, the window should look like below: 6. Click Save.

1. Click on the 2nd tab, Configure Servers

Page 8: 1 Installation Configuration

2. Click on Cache Configuration link and change the Cluster Port. You must change from the default or else your Optimize engine may try to join a cluster with others on the webMethods domain. Leave the first number as 3 and change the last 4 to the last 4 digits of your cell phone number (per an email from Reed Wellman). This will probably generate unique numbers for all. See the screenshot below for an example of what it will look like, in this case the last 4 digits were 7368.

1. Click on Validate tab to validate your environment before deploying. Check that all the 7 Tabs have a Green checkmark to confirm that each was configured correctly. You should see "Valid Configuration" in the Validate tab.

2. Click Finish.

Page 9: 1 Installation Configuration

Deploy the Optimize Environment1. Start at the main Define Environments page of My webMethods Server 2. Under Actions click on the Deploy button (Green Arrow) at the right of environment Local. 3. Click Deploy 4. At this time, the Central Configuration utility will attempt to connect to each of the three Optimize

runtime engines, one at a time and push all the configuration files to each. If you open the command window with the Analytic Engine running, you should see some activity.

5. After several minutes, if the deployment is successful, you'll see something like the screenshot below.

6. Click Close

Page 10: 1 Installation Configuration

Configure My weMethods System SettingsThe last step is to configure My webMethods System settings so that all the Optimize Monitoring and Administration pages know where the Analytic Engine is.

1. Start in Administration > My webMethods > System Settings 2. Set the Analytic Engine parameters:

1. Host - machine name e.g. winxpora-tahiti (Do not use "localhost") 2. Port - 12503

3. Navigate to Administration > Processes > Business Processes. If you see a message indicating the BAM Server is not reachable (the message is beside the Delete button), you should Logout and log back in. The message should go away.
