In collaboration with Nalco, Logisticon Water
Treatment has extended the water treatment
system at Yara in Le Havre (France). The existing
ultrafiltration installation, commissioned in 2016
after collaboration between Nalco and Logisticon,
has been further expanded. In parallel to that, an
installation that further treats the surface water
with flocculation and a 3-layer filtration has been
constructed. This results in water of sufficient
quality to serve as a direct water supply to the new
and existing reverse osmosis installations.
The extension includes six filters with a total
capacity of 200 m³/h with a supplementary double
pass RO in insulated containers. The first pass
of reverse osmosis produces 100 m³/h and the
second pass produces 90 m³/h. In the coming
years, the installation will be controlled remotely
via a secure communication link.

Hydrobusiness and DAF Trucks EindhovenSince 2002, HydroBusiness has been supplying cooling and process water to DAF
Trucks in Eindhoven for the manufacture of trucks. The purification system is fed using
surface water from the canal in Eindhoven and consists of a fish screen, micro-sieve and an
ultrafiltration installation. As a back-up there is a drinking water connection is available.
The old ultrafiltration membranes were over 12 years old and due for replacement.
On behalf of HydroBusiness, Logisticon Water Treatment reconditioned and expanded
the entire system so it is now ready to supply cooling and process water to DAF Trucks
for the next decade.
The reconditioning included, among other things:
The installation of new Pentair Xiga 46 membranes, increasing the surface to 1800 m²
and also the capacity to 180 m³/h. This also involved the replacement of the rinsing
pump and the entire control unit.
Renewal of two chemical dosing systems with storage to comply to the new
BRL-K903/8 regulations. As stated elsewhere in this LogistiContour no.18, Logisticon
is BRL certified for this.

Hygienically designed reverse osmosis unit
Applications
Hygienically and aseptic designed ultrafiltration, nanofiltration and reverse
osmosis installations from Logisticon Water Treatment in various forms are
exceptionally well suited for the production of bottled water, soft drinks, fruit
juice, syrups and brewing water. In addition, the installations can be made
suitable for the dairy and food industry, with various separation techniques for
specific types of process water and, for example, for re-use of condensate.
In close collaboration with Wairtec,
Logisticon Water Treatment supplied
a hygienically designed and construc-
ted softener and reverse osmosis unit
with a net capacity of 12 m³/h to a fruit
juice processing company.
In addition to a double softener
and a reverse osmosis installation,
the installation also has recircula-
tion capabilities, UV disinfection, and
specially requested backflow preven-
tion devices.
Special attention was paid to the
choice of materials and instruments.
The piping and pressure vessels are
made entirely of SS316L (Ra«0.8) with
tri-clamp connections.
Instrumentation was carried out using
Varivent®-N connections and hygienic
Kieselmann valves and check valves
were also fitted as interspaced flanges
to allow easy dismantling and mainte-
nance.

Modularly constructed mobile filter installationLogisticon Water Treatment has developed a new mobile water treatment container.
This installation is fitted with an automatically backwashed sand filter and two filters
for, for example, activated carbon or ion exchange. The water treatment installation
with a capacity of approximately 20 m³/h is fully automated and can be controlled
at distance via a secure Internet connection.
A major advantage of the PLC control
system is its capability of connecting
to other installations. This allows the
mobile treatment system to be used
as, among other things, a groundwater
treatment device for soil remediation, as
(temporary) post-purification for biological
water treatment, but also as pre-treatment for a UF or RO installation. Multiple
installations have now been constructed and delivered.
With the Global Standard developed by the Water Footprint Network, water consumption can be compared across the entire supply chain and policy can be set for sustainable water use.

Process water for VynovaAs part of a long-term contract to supply process water using pre-treated water from
the Juliana Canal, Nalco is working in collaboration with Logisticon to supply process
water to Vynova in Beek/Geleen, The Netherlands.
Vynova, formerly Ineos ChlorVinyls, used to buy demineralised water from EDEA on the
Chemelot site in Geleen. However, the current quality requirement for the purchased
water is <20 µS/cm. This paved the way for the purchasing of cheaper process water
through the Nalco-Logisticon consortium.
All of the installations designed and constructed by Logisticon Water Treatment are
mobile and incorporated within multiple 20ft and 40ft containers. The full installation
consists of 2 ultrafiltration and 2 reverse osmosis systems. A CIP container enables the
membranes to be cleaned automatically. The installation has a capacity of 95 m³/h
and a maximum capacity of 120 m³/h. Peak levels of usage are absorbed using two
buffer tanks which allow 150 m³/h to be supplied for short periods. The entire installation
is remotely controlled and monitored over a secure internet connection.

Due to the obsolescence of the exis-
ting water treatment plant, Smink Afval-
verwerking in Amersfoort, part of the
new Renewi, contracted Logisticon
Water Treatment to construct a new
wastewater treatment system. Smink
has been involved in the collection,
processing and recycling of waste
products since 1955 and manages
a landfill site in Amersfoort, The Ne-
therlands. This landfill site produces
leachate, which has to be purified.
The new leachate wastewater treatment
system was designed for a hydraulic
capacity of 720 m³ / day. It relies on
the same technological principle as the
20-year old installation, but now uses the
latest generation of ZeeWeed ZW500D
LeapMBR Zenon membranes for an
energetically optimal design.
The new installation consists of an
equalisation tank (200 m³), a bio-
logical tank (300 m³), a permeate tank
(200 m³) and a stainless steel mem-
brane tank for the MBR modules.
The technical installation has been
fully constructed in 4 insulated con-
tainers that are connected on site.
The deployment of temporary mo-
bile water treatment equipment from
Logisticon Rental has enabled the
old treatment system to function
normally until the start-up of the newly
constructed system.

The drinking water company Oasen has officially opened a partial flow reverse osmosis (RO)
membrane installation at the Schuwacht treatment plant in Krimpen aan de Lek, The Netherlands.
Half of the groundwater intake passes through the new membrane installation and the other
half of the groundwater intake bypasses it. The two flows are then mixed in order to attain the
hardness required for drinking water. The water subsequently passes through the conventional
drinking water treatment installation.
The entire membrane installation consists of 4 parallel reverse osmosis membrane units, each
with a nominal capacity of 97 m³/hour per unit. Further, the installation has been fitted with a
membrane cleaning system.
The use of the Optiflux membrane concept allows energy savings of up to 20% to be achieved.
Furthermore, Logisticon worked together with Oasen to design a special low-pressure turbine
installation for energy recovery. It also fitted IE4 motors and installed a solar power installation
to keep the total energy consumption to an absolute minimum.

Mobile container treatment systems with GEA decanters Once again, several containers with integrated
decanters have been constructed for GEA. In a 40ft
container a UCD 305 decanter was constructed,
including coil pipe flocculators, a flotation unit,
chemical storage tanks and dosing units that are
being further developed and started up by the
customer in the UK. This unit is being used to treat
contaminated wastewater from a paint factory and
remove the sludge in solid form.
In addition, a very large GEA Nederland decanter centrifuge of the type waterMaster
CF 6000 has been integrated into a 30ft container for Servis, Service in Separation B.V.
This installation is very comprehensive, including a supply pump with a 20-80 m³/h
capacity, a PE preparing and dosing unit, a sludge removal screw and a removable roof
hatch for extensive maintenance of the centrifuge. The controls are in a separate, dry
and low-noise space. The entire system can remain on a trailer and be accessed using
retractable stairs. Due to the powerful forces being used and the extra openings for
the roof hatch, doors, sludge screw and supply and removal pipes, it was necessary to
heavily reinforce the container in several places.

Logisticon has added several Dissolved Air
Flotation (DAF) installations to its rental fleet.
The capacities of our mobile rental fleet vary
from 5 m³/h to 80 m³/h.
The installations are modularly constructed
and can be deployed rapidly. The equipment
has been put together in such a way that it is
easy to connect to other treatment compo-
nents. For example, for prior coagulation and
flocculation or subsequent sludge treatment
and polishing.
The installations can be deployed for short
periods of time as a solution to a problem or,
for example, as a temporary boost to purifi-
cation capacity or in emergencies. Medium
to long term rental is also possible.

Logisticon Water Treatment receives BRL-K903/8 certificateProject leader Gea Voorrips has received the BRL-K903/8 certificate from
Kiwa on behalf of Logisticon Water Treatment. According to the Regeling
Erkenning Installateurs Tankinstallaties (REIT), Logisticon Water Treatment
may now design, construct, supply and maintain above-ground systems
for the dosing of chemicals for, among other
things, water treatment. This certificate has
also led to the construction of various mobile
chemical storage systems with a volume of
10,000 litres. These mobile systems are now
available for rental. For a description of the
CHEMDOSE10, see elsewhere in this issue.

EN1090 certificate obtainedThere are harmonised product standards that
supplement the Construction Products Regulation
(CPR). One of these standards is the European
product standard NEN-EN 1090 which specifies that
it is legally required to acquire CE certification for,
among other things, steel construction elements that
support a permanent construction load.
A company may only draw up and issue this CE
marking if it is certified to do so by a registered (external) organisation.
To do this, among other things a production management system is
required according to FPC (Factory Production Control), including but
not limited to a welding quality system. This allows us to carry out
the entire process from design to commissioning ourselves.Logisticon
Water Treatment is now certified by Bureau Veritas for EN 1090-1 to
EXC. 2 and we are permitted to issue this CE marking.
