Staffing the Relocation Program
• B—General Schedule classification system does not prescribe assigning work to administer the relocation program
• P—Different staffing approaches exist; seasonal workload
• R—OPM staff review of Federal classification system; no separate occupational series assigned; no specific educational requirements; future may include competency-based approach
• BP—Private firms have specialized (trained) staff or use 3rd party
• RD—Government moving towards more flexible classification and pay systems; possible best practices study

Training and Certification
• B—No specific education, qualification, or training requirements for Federal relocation specialists
• P—Many specialists do not have full range of knowledge or tools
• R—GSA, agency, and non-Federal training readily available; ERC offers “Certified Relocation Professional;” OPM responsible for Government training policies; agencies have broad authority to use non-Federal sources
• B—ERC offers CRP & majority of subject areas transferable
• RD—Determine whether a specified training curriculum and/or exam should be developed for Federal specialists; outline for approach developed
