1 Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education Co-op—Alternatives to the Poster Presentation (Article/photo OR Video) As a co-op student in the School of Exercise Science, Physical and Health Education, if you are completing your third or fourth work term, you may choose to complete a range of alternative assignments. You must discuss your choices with the EPHE co-op coordinator at least four weeks before the end of your work term. Co-op competency assignments (learning objectives, mid-term and final assessments) must be completed. In lieu of a poster, you may choose to submit and submit: an article and photo (approximately 500 words or 2 pages, including a photo of yourself in the workplace) or a video (120-180 seconds, similar to a video/movie trailer) These will be published on the School of EPHE and /or UVic Co-op and Career websites. A) HOW TO SUBMIT THESE ALTERNATIVES OPTION 1: Article and photo 1. Approval: Discuss your choices with your Co-op Coordinator and get approval at least 2 weeks prior to the end of the work term. Without prior approval your alternative assignment will not be accepted. 2. Format: Submit an article (Microsoft Word format, approximately 500 words) and photo (original jpeg format of yourself in the workplace) via email to your Co-op Coordinator at least one week prior to the due date. Please make sure to include an article title, your name, your place of work and your supervisor’s name on the title page. 3. Release form: Submit a signed photo release form from anyone else that appears in your photo so that your work may be published on the university’s websites (contact your co-op office for copies of these forms). Without this form your alternative assignment will not be accepted. 4. Presentation: Bring both an electronic and hard copy of your article and photo to the poster presentation. OPTION 2: Video 1. 4. Presentation: Be prepared to present your video during the poster presentation.

B) WHAT TO INCLUDE

Your article/photo or video should include a brief description of the agency you worked for including:

1. A summary of the organization and their purpose/goals/objectives 2. Target population; programs/ services offered 3. What you did for the organization 4. Your learning and how this relates to your academic studies

Note: UVic Co-op students, faculty and staff and alumni as well as complete strangers, future students, potential employers and parents will view your submission - take these audiences into consideration when submitting your assignment. The EPHE Co-op Coordinator will review and approve your submission and the Online Learning Community team will copy edit and format your submission for publication online.
