Backpack Setup Below are the options for creating Backpack accounts for your entire student/staff population: MackinVIA can communicate with your school’s network to automatically create Backpack accounts. We have worked with schools and districts to integrate student’s data with MackinVIA through several methods, such as LDAP (Active Directory) and FTP uploads. Each data synchronization project is customized to the user’s needs, and we are continually working to develop other methods of integration. For more information or to set up synchronization between your student and staff network accounts and MackinVIA Backpack accounts, contact [email protected]. Data integration 1. a. From the “Backpacks” tab, click the “Import” button in the top right corner. This will open up a “Backpack Import” wizard. At the bottom of the introduction, click “Next” to begin import process. Select file to upload. Once selected, file name will show up where it currently says “No file chosen”. Then click “Upload”. (Please note, the file will need to be in CSV format) The “File Backpacks.csv has been uploaded!” line comes up when the file is loaded. The process is not yet complete! You need to click “Next” to complete the final steps. You can set up multiple Backpack accounts from the admin side of MackinVIA. Backpack Setup

Below are the options for creating Backpack accounts for your entire student/staff population:

MackinVIA can communicate with your school’s network to automatically create Backpack accounts. We have worked with schools and districts to integrate student’s data with MackinVIA through several methods, such as LDAP (Active Directory) and FTP uploads. From the “Backpacks” tab, click the “Import” button in the top right corner. This will open up a “Backpack Import” wizard.

First Name, User ID, and Password must be matched to the corresponding columns from the uploaded file. You can also map Last Name, Email Address, and Patron ID, but they are not required.

Choose the options that apply.

Backpacks CreatedOnly set up the new backpacks

Backpacks UpdatedUpdate information on backpacks that were previously created

Backpacks DeactivatedWill deactivate all backpacks that are not on the file that was just uploaded.

Import ErrorsWill open a spreadsheet with any errors that came up. *These backpacks were NOT created!* The information needs to be corrected and then added separately.

Click “Import” to complete the process.

Import process is complete!

We are happy to assist with this process. CSV files can be sent to [email protected] for import.

You can set up individual student Backpack accounts from the admin side of MackinVIA.Follow the steps below to set up individual Backpack accounts.

Login into your www.mackin.com account and go to My Mackin > My MackinVIA.

Once you are in your MackinVIA admin settings, choose “Backpack” along the left side and then click “Register New Backpack” in the top right corner.

Enter in the required fields (highlighted) and click “Create Backpack”.

Log in to your MackinVIA Reader appPlease refer to the MackinVIA Reader App Guide for more information.

First, go to www.mackinvia.com and log in with your school’s User ID and Password.

Once you have logged in, click on the Backpack icon in the upper right corner and choose any of the options from the drop-down.

Then choose the “Register” option in the pop-up window.

Enter your desired personal User ID and Password and your first name (email is optional). Then click “Register”.

You can instruct students/staff to set up their own Backpack accounts from the user side of MackinVIA.
