Czech National Bank MONEY MUSEUM

• The Museum is located at 28 Na Příkopě, 115 03 Praha 1 in the centre of Prague.

• It is open Tuesday – Friday.• Visits start at 9.00 a.m., 11.00 a.m. and

1.00 p.m. and on Thursdays also at 4.00 p.m.

• Closed on Mondays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

• Owing to an extraordinary interest in the exhibition the visit is possible only if you make a reservation in advance. Only 34 visitors are allowed per visit.

• Admission is free.

• The Czech National Bank Exposition is situated in the building, which wasOriginally built in 1935-1942 for theŽivnostenská banka (Tradesmens Bank).

• The central bank took over the building in 1950.

• The People and Money Exhibition was installed on premises used to serve as a vault for the clients personal strongboxes.

• The exhibition opened on 2 January 2002.

• The exhibition People and Money illustrates the history of money evolution from flint to digital money and chips.

• The exhibition provides a comprehensive picture of both monetary and financial development in the Czechlands, including the story of the Czech National Bank since its foundation.

• Visitors are invited to take advantage of the following facilities:• Audio-visual viewings presented in a video-room at the entrance to the

exhibition area, • 65 show-cases displaying unique exhibits and payment instruments (a

special show-case containing a ton of gold), • forgeries and examples of money protection techniques, • interactive touch-screens, • vast quantities of information stored in multimedia computers.

• Digital audio guides with English or German commentary can be borrowed.

• Financial education is at the heart of the Exposition. • For more than 12 years, educators from the Czech

National Bank have been bringing students to the Museum to help them understand how finance impacts their daily lives.

• The most frequent visitors are students - more than 83%.• Of educational institutions, the most frequent visitors are

universities (excluding commercial colleges) - almost 40%.
