What We do
The Local Community Heroes Publication has been publish-ing Stories of Student and their inspiring Teacher on Front Cover of Magazine starting April 16th, 2016. This is the First Anniversary of The Local Community Heroes. Local Community Heroes has provided Five Scholarships to the local student's thanks to the generosity of the local Business leaders and contrib-utors like Cesar Pascal of “Plaza Jeweler”, Sammy Seth of “The United Health” Care Staffing Service and Clear Digital Channel NetWork Advertising on behalf of Sumati Madhukumar Desai.
Clear Digital Channel Network Marketing has provided Two Scholarships ($1000 each) to William Overfelt High School student Jennifer Hernandez Garcia who wants to major in Political Science and Maria Moran who wants to be the Social Worker.
Hoy Héroes de la Comunidad cumple su primer aniversario, durante este tiempo, esta publicación se ha dedicado a promover los logros de los estudiantes y a los maestros que los han inspirado y/o motivado a dar lo mejor de ellos mismos. Como parte del equipo de Héroes de la comunidad, nos sentimos sumamente satisfechos al saber que la fe y el esfuerzo puesto se puede demostrar a través de la entrega de cinco becas a estudiantes locales. Todo esto ha sido posible gracias a la generosidad de los líderes empresariales locales como Cesar Pascal de Plaza Jewelry, Sammy Seth de The United Health, y Sumati Madhukumar Desai de Clear Digital Chanel Network, y a la comunidad del East y South de San Jose, que leyendo Héroes de la Comuni-dad han apoyado así a las empresas patrocinadoras de esta publicación.

The Local Community Heroes - Héroes De La Comunidad is community publication uplifting Students and Teachers in the community without any prejudice and you will see throughout the year that publication doesn’t have Race, Religion or Ethnicity bias.
Local Community Heroes believes this will get more students and parents involved with how the Teachers and School play important roles in San Jose in the betterment of Community. Also, this will encourage and inspire other students and teachers to be like the one on the cover.
James Lick High School’s Truc Nguyen has been provided the $1000. Scholar-ship thanks to the generosity of Sammy Seth of “The United Healthcare Staffing Service” who wants to be the Cardiologist.

Para este año 2017-2018 todos los estudiantes deben aplicar a las becas, Heroes de la comunidad es una publicación comunitaria sin ningún prejuicio de raza, religión o etnicidad. Buscamos más estudiantes y padres involucrados con los Maestros y la Escuela, desempeñando un papel importante en el mejoramiento de la Comunidad de San Jose. Además, inspirarar a más estudiantes y maestros a ser como el que está en la portada.

CRANBERRY CHEESCAKECrust:8 oz whole almonds ground1/4 cup swerve sweetener1 egg4 tbsp cold butter, dicedpinch of salt
InstructionsCrust:1. In a food processor add the almonds and process few minutes
until ground. Add the butter, sugar, egg and salt and pulse fewtimes until it forms a ball.
2. Take the dough out and gently press it on the bottom and about1 inch on the sides of a greased 8 inch springform pan.
3. Turn the oven on and place a shallow dish with about 1 1/2 inchwater in it on the bottom rack. Wait until the oven temperature reaches 350F.
Filling:1. In a large mixing bowl add the cream cheese and swerve and mix until combined.
Add the heavy creamy, eggs and the egg white and stir until creamy. Pour into the chilled crust
2. Bake without taking the water dish out of the oven for about 55 minutes oruntil the edges become golden and the middle is just slightly wiggly.
3. Turn off the oven, crack the door just a little bit and leave thecheesecake to slowly cool
Cranberry Sauce:1. In a small saucepan add the cranberries, swerve and orange juice andcook, over low heat for few minutes until the cranberries have poppedand they become mushy. Remove from the heat and cool slightly beforespreading it on top of the cheesecake.
Filling:2/3 cup swerve sweetener1 tbsp fresh squeezed lemon juice2X8oz each cream cheese, room temperature2 eggs1 egg white1/2 cup heavy cream
Cranberry Sauce:4 oz fresh cranberries1/4 cup fresh squeezed orange juice1/4 cup swerve sweetener
