It’s Saturday afternoon and you are standing in a shop looking at theclothes. You only want one T-shirt, but two hours later, you look in yourbag and you’ve got a T-shirt, a necklace and a pair of shoes. Why?Shops look interesting, so people want to stay in them for a long timeand then they spend more money. The clothes are fashionable, themusic is cool and there are special lights to make things look better.

The workers in the shop also “help” shoppers by showing them morethings. You choose a T-shirt. Then the worker takes the most expensivenecklace in the shop and puts it around your neck. “This looks fantasticwith that T-shirt!” she says. So, what do you do? You buy it. Sometimes,you go to pay and see more interesting accessories and you decide tobuy a belt and a hairbrush.

Going shopping can be very expensive. So next time you go shopping,remember to make a list and only buy the things on it.
