Covering over 40 Acres The ShaftesburyPark Estate was original built by theArtisans, Labourers and GeneralDwellings Company, with thefoundation stone for the Estate beinglaid by Lord Shaftesbury himself in1872. The company was dedicated toproviding decent accommodation at a time when overcrowding and poorliving conditions were rife in the area.

The Estate was formally opened by thethen Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraelion 1st July 1874 and to this day thearchitecture of the estate has remainedvirtually unchanged.
