In Math and Science we often rely on good logical & critical thinking as well as problem solving skills. If you are able to, try a Logic Grid Puzzle app. There are tons of them to choose from! This week, we will focus mostly on refreshing your Algebra skills from prior years – try these challenges:
- Explain relationships between numbers - Patterns and linear rules - Find the nth term of a linear sequence - The term to term rule - Special number sequences
HINTS FOR SUCCESS: - Try the “Teach Me” feature before attempting a new challenge
- Use the “hint” feature during a challenge
- Use the messaging system to contact your teacher

2. A “Hands-on” Activity: SQUARE NUMBERS – FEWEST SQUARES (Source: www.youcubed.org)
Draw an 11x13 grid and try to find the fewest number of squares you can use to cover it without overlap or extending outside the grid.
Possible Extensions:
What is the size of the rectangle you can find using 9 squares?
Can you find more than one rectangle?
- Substitute whole numbers into expressions
- Substitute any value into an expression
- Introducing equations - Intro to solving equations, integers (Jabara game levels 1-20)
