GrANd KNIGhT’S MESSAGETo all the mothers everywhere, Happy Mother’s Day, and to all our fallen service men

and women and your families, we salute you for all your service to God and country. Many things are afoot on campus this month so mark your calendars. Events that include Mother’s Day, First Degree exemplification, anniversaries, fishing trips, benefits and the opening of the K of C swimming pool for the activities. We close the month in remember-ing our military. The property will be in full swing as we prepare for summer on campus. Please take time to enjoy all it has to offer. Before you know it, school will be out, and camp will be in session, the campus will be alive with children and their families. What a wonderful thing!

As we continue to enjoy these freedoms let us pray for our bishops, priests and most importantly the Catholic Church. Keep the faith. God Bless.

Vivat JesuThomas J. GalvinGrand Knight

KNIGhT Of ThE MONThThis month we celebrate the life and memory of a departed brother, Matthew N. Mc-

Glade. For those of us who were able to attend his services witnessed the true impact Matt had on many of our lives. The two most salient truths one may have come away realizing are: he was truly a catholic gentleman. His faith in God and the church set his life’s course. Matt, rest in peace, knowing the success you share in raising one terrific daughter. You did well my friend! Please join in prayer for Matt and his family as we recognize our May Knight of the Month, Matthew N. McGlade. GO LONGHORNS!!!

MANAGErS COrNEr MAyThe campus is in full swing in preparation for summer. Our landscapers are busy at

work getting the grounds in tip-top shape for our pool opening on May 18. Our camp’s first session begins on June 18. There are still openings in the Away Camp. Please contact Chandler Hill, our camp director for further information.

The Deep End, our newly-named Pool Bar and Snack Bar, will open on May 18 and will be headed by Thom Galvin. I would like to take this time to welcome Thom and I look forward to working with him this summer. The Snack Bar Menu is printed in this edition to give a sneak preview.

Our traditional Easter Buffet was a huge success again this year, with many thanks to all that helped make it possible.

We are now in the process of preparing for our Mothers Day Buffet on Sunday, May 13, 2012 which I hope will be equally as good as Easter. Look forward to seeing you there.

We continue to book our ballroom on a daily basis and our new website has really contributed in getting The Columbus Clubs name out there.

The Columbus Club Campus is nearly ten beautiful acres with a multitude of activities and attractions for the young and for the young at heart. I welcome you to make the most out of the summer and make yourself at home.

SICK ANd rECOVErINGPlease remember the following members and their families in your daily prayers. If

you have time, give them a call or drop them a note.

OPPOrTUNITy TO BE ThE COOlEST PArENT IN ThE WOrld. ANd rAISE MONEy fOr A WOrThy CAUSE AT ThE SAME TIME.

It was newscaster Tom Brokaw who coined the phrase “The Greatest Generation” in referring to the millions of Americans who answered the call to arms when the United States entered World War II in both Europe and the Pacific. The veterans of WW II still with us are now in their mid-80’s to early-90’s.

Edward Douglass White Council 2473, Knights of Columbus is proud to have our own chapter of “The Greatest Generation”. Many of these men have been members of EDW for 45-50 years; most are now Honorary Life Members (HLM). What’s more, most

EdW’S ChAPTEr Of “ThE GrEATEST GENErATION”of these men have been or are still, actively involved and continue to contribute to EDW activities such as Retirees, Redcoats, and other activities. Since we are now in the month of May, the month when we as a nation observe Memorial Day, it is appropriate that our EDW Council and family members recognize these men at this time.

Unfortunately, we do not have the means to identify ALL current members of EDW who served during WWII, but we do know of the following:

Announcing the raffle to be the first person in the EDW Pool in 2012.
