SECTION 11 Uneven Bars

111.1 GENERALThe evaluation of the exercise begins with the take off from the board or the mat. Additional supports under the board (i.e.: an extra board)are not permitted.2MountsIf the gymnast on her first attempt touched the springboard, the apparatus, or ran underneath the apparatus: - Deduct -1.00- She must start her exercise- No Value will be awarded for the MountA gymnast is permitted a 2nd attempt to mount (with a penalty) if she has NOT touched the springboard, the apparatus, or run underneath the apparatus - Deduct -1.00; Value is given for the mountA 3rd attempt is not permitted.D- panel judges will take the deduction from the Final score.3Fall TimeDuring a fall from the apparatus, an interruption of 30 seconds is allowed (the timing starts when the gymnast is on her feet after the fall) before the gymnast must remount the uneven bars to continue the exercise. The elapsed time during the fall will be displayed in seconds on the scoreboard.A warning signal (gong) will be communicated at 10 seconds,20 seconds and again at the30 second time limit. If the gymnast does not remount the uneven bars by the 30 second time limit, the exercise is considered terminated.4

11.2 Content and Construction of the ExerciseThe maximum 8 highest difficulties including the dismount are awarded. 5

11.3 Composition Requirements (CR)6

7Flight Elements Visible FlightFrom HB to grasp on LB (reversed)

Counter flight (over the bar)

Vault

Hecht

Salto followed by re-grasp on same bar or other barDismounts

CR 1Flight element from HB to LB -award 0.50 8

Mount Can fulfill:CR 1 - HB to LB must have a grip change from HB to LB

CR 2Flight element on the same bar - award 0.509Hop-grip changes do not constitute flight; e.g. giant hop 1/1

CR 3

10Minimum two different grips

Regular grip + one of : L grip, Reverse grip, reverse L grip

Giant to Jaeger = different grip +

- award 0.50

Giant turn to double front salto dismount does not = different grip +

- (no cast, MT or DMT)

CR 4Non flight element with min. 360 turn (performed on the bar) (No MT or Dismount)award 0.50

CR- 5 DismountNo dismount, A- or B- dismountaward 0.00C- dismountaward 0.30D- or higher dismountaward 0.5013One element may fulfill 2 CRs

e.g. 3.410 Giant circle in L grip with 1/1 turn

360 non flight element and different grip

e.g. 3.408 Jaeger Salto piked to hangdifferent grip and flight

Connection Value

all C/D elements must have flight or min. turnNot necessary for E,F,G, and H ElementsMounts can be usedDismounts are considered flightEmpty or Intermediate swing will break connection

11.4 Connection Value (CV) D - PanelFor CV all C/D elements must have flight or min. turnConnection Value can be awarded for direct connections. The CV will be added into the D-Score.Formulas for direct connections follow:0.100.2015D (flight - same bar or LB to HB) + C or more (on HB)(must be performed in this order)+ D or more D + E (both flight elements)Connection Value16Tkatchev + Giant 1/1 = 0.20 D+C +Tkatchev + Gienger = 0.20 D+D +Schaposchnikova + Clear hip circle with 1/1 turn to handstand = 0.20 D+D +Schaposchnikova + Clear hip circle D+C= 0 +(C element requires turn) Schaposchnikova + Pak Salto = 0.10 D+D +(Pak salto not on HB) Hang on HB, swing fwd with turn to handstand on LB+ Clear pike circle bkwd with 1/1 turn = 0.10 + D+E

Clear Pike Circle + Stalder Backward counter flight over HB (Ricna) D+E = 0 + (No flight or turn in D)

Hang on HB, swing fwd with turn to handstand on LB +Pike sole circle bkwd with 1/1/ turn D+D = 0.10 + Giant circle fwd in L grip 1/1 initiated on 1 arm before Handstand + Giant circle forward in L grip with 1 turn E+E + 0.10 +(No flight)

Stalder Backward counter flight over HB (Ricna)+ Pak Salto E+D = 0.20 (Both have flight) +

MountsCan fulfill CR 1 for flight from HB to LBElements performed as mounts or vice versa can be performed within the exercise but receive DV only once.1819With the direct connection of 3 or more elements, the repeated flight element on UB, or salto on BB & FX must be directly connected. CV will be rewarded for all connectionsExamples: Bkwd. Stalder 1/1 + Tkatchev + Tkatchev + Pak Salto

Dismount with fall

If the salto for the dismount has not begun (no initiation of rotation) and a fall occurs, or

No attempt for DMT at all (landing on feet or falling after landing on feet)

Example: Underswing with no rotation to land on back or feet Evaluation:No CR (D- panel)NO DV - count 7 elements only (D- panel)0.50 No attempt to dismount (E- panel)Fall 1.0 or Apply landing deductions if no fall (E- panel)

28Dismount with fallIf the salto for the dismount has begun and then a fall occurs:Example 2: Underswing salto fwd tuck with failure to land feet first Evaluation:No CR (D- panel)No DV - count 7 elements only (D- panel)Fall 1.0 (E- panel)

29EXECUTION PRINCIPLES Intermediate swing (No DV) do not deduct for leg faultsOnly deduct once for internediate swing even when multiple swings occurWhen gymnast hits the bar and then falls only deduct for the fallWhen gymnast hits the mat do not deduct for leg faultsMaximum deduction for leg errors will be 0.50 on each element ( open legs 0.3+ bent legs 0.5 Maximum = 0.50)30Connection of Forward Elements2 forward elements ( weilers)1st element will be given DV even if the handstand is not reached (within 10 degrees of vertical) provided the hips are extended. Body alignment deduction will apply. 31More InfoDouble layout salto dismount: A stretched position must be shown during the 1st salto.

Pak Salto amplitude deductions when hands first grasp LB angle:0 30 = o.o deduction30 45 = 0.10 deduction45 = 0.30 deduction

There is no devaluation of this element. The D value is kept even with angle deductions.

32Falls Flight Elementswith grasp of both hands (momentary hang) on the bar - DV is awardedwithout grasp of both hands on the bar - No DV is awarded 33
