Ми є свідками і учасниками Спасительної цієї місії.Отож, коли після упадку прародичів, упадку людства, були сказані словаГосподом Богом: “Я покладу ворожнечу між Тобою і жінкою і між Твоїм потомствомта її потомством”, тоді ті слова сказані до змія-диявола, спокусника Єви й Адама,вже тоді давали надію цілому людству на спасіння, що здійснилося черезнайсвятішу жінку – пречисту Діву Марію, Богородицю, переможницю змія-дияволау всіх людських душах, котрі повірять в Її сина Ісуса Христа як свого Спасителя.Спасаюча дія жінки над всіма жінками, не завершилась лише із народженнямМесії і допомогою в Його служінні, але мало продовження ще й після Голгофи.Бачивши Ісус Матір і біля Неї учня, що стояв, – а його ж любив Він, –мовить до Матері: «Жінко, ось син Твій». А тоді й до учня мовить: «Осьматір твоя». І від тієї хвилі учень узяв її до себе. Йо. 19, 25-27 Ці слованашого Спасителя були звернені до “учня”. Ми є також учнями Христа, отожзвернені й до нас. Вони закликають кожного християнина стати сином/дочкоюМатері Божої. Марія опікувалася учнями і була з ними. Так і ми можемо прибігатидо Неї в скорботах і радощах, призивати її на поміч у всіх немочах і тривогах,ділитися радостями і успіхами. Вона подасть нам утішення, захист, підтримку ібуде нашою Заступницею перед Всевишнім.

A Prayer for Mothers

Good and Gentle God, we pray in gratitude for our mothers and for all the women oftheory who have joined with you in the wonder of bringing forth new life. You whobecame human through a woman, grant to all mothers the courage they need to facethe uncertain future that life with children always brings.

Give them the strength to live and to be loved in return, not perfectly, but humanly.Give them the faithful support of husband, family and friends as they care for thephysical and spiritual growth of their children. Give them joy and delight in theirchildren to sustain them through the trials of motherhood. Most of all, give them thewisdom to turn to you for help when they need it most. Amen.

Loving God, we thank you for the love of the mothers youhave given us, whose love is so precious that it can never bemeasured, whose patience seems to have no end. May we seeyour loving hand behind them and guiding them. We ask youto bless them with your own special love. Mary, Mother ofGod and our Mother, pray for all mothers, that they mayfulfill their maternal responsibilities. Help us love, sustainand care for each human life from the moment of conceptionuntil death. Let them be a good example to their children.

Speaking at his weekly general audience at the Vatican on April 20, 2016, the HolyFather spoke for all of us when he said that he was especially concerned that “Ukraine’s populationhas been suffering for some time the consequences of an armed conflict, forgotten by many.” Hehas called for a special collection for Ukraine in all Catholic churches in Europe on April 24th insupport of his humanitarian initiative. His Beatitude Sviatoslav, has asked all our UkrainianCatholic Churches in the diaspora to join in this endeavor also.

As a result, and in all charity, we request such a collection be taken in all our parishes at allLiturgies. However, because many of the parishes in our eparchy are celebrating Willow Sundayon April 24th, we ask that the collection be postponed until Sunday, May 8. 2016.

Kindly make this announcement at all Liturgies this coming Sunday. Please urge yourparishioners to be as generous as possible! The proceeds of the collection for Ukraine are to beforwarded to the Chancery immediately after May 8th. Homage paid to human freedomAlthough God revealed Himself most fully in the person of Jesus Christ, He remains an eternalmystery to us. The words of the prophet Isaiah hold true: “Truly, thou art a God who hidestthyself, O God of Israel, the Savior” (Is 45:15). Since God wants every one of us to be unitedwith Him in love and attain perfect happiness in heaven, our encounter with Him may notbe forced or constrained; it must be freely willed. The Creator calls us into existence, but Heremains a hidden God so as not to overwhelm us by the awesome power of His truth andbeauty. Consequently, it is we who decide to declare ourselves for or against Him. God’slove is meek and defenseless, since we can scorn and reject it. It becomes an all-powerfulforce only when we freely accept it.Christianity is the only religion founded on the belief that God came into this world as a realman – a man, born in Bethlehem of the Virgin Mary, who suffered, died on the cross inJerusalem, and rose on the third day. That God, who revealed Himself fully in Jesus Christ,should remain a hidden God is a central truth of the Christian faith. Once again, let us stressthat God remains “hidden” from us, “inaccessible” to our senses and reason (i.e. He doesnot force Himself upon us or compel us to accept His existence) precisely because of Hisabiding respect for the gift of freedom which He bestowed upon us. God wants to enjoy aloving relationship with us, but He can only do this when we are free. Thus, in revealingHimself while at the same time remaining hidden, God not only demonstrates His love for usbut also pays homage to our human freedom.
