JUNE 14, 2020 - THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST

If you are not receiving our weekly emails but would like to, please contact parish office at [email protected] to be put on the list.

Dear members of Blessed Sacrament family, Greetings of Peace, Joy and Hope to each one of you!

This Sunday is the Solemn Feast of Corpus Christi! It is the feast of our Parish – Blessed Sacrament Parish. Special wishes and assurance of prayers to each one of you! During these days of lockdown, most of us were deprived of our ‘spiritual food’ and participation in the weekly Masses. And many of you told me how you missed receiving Jesus and taking part in the Eucharist. We are so privileged and blessed to ‘eat His body and drink His blood’ as nourishment and strength for our life. We can never thank Jesus sufficiently for this amazing gift and Sacrament. In breaking the bread for his disciples, Christ gave us an example of what it means to allow oneself to be broken for the good of others. It is the Eucharist which gives us the strength to do the same. Jesus was broken; he is broken for us. And he asks us to give ourselves, to break ourselves, as it were, for others. There are so many Catholics, who together with the slices of bread they provide each day on the tables of their homes, break their hearts to let their children grow, and grow well. That is something admirable. There are so many Catholics, who as responsible citizens, break their own lives to defend the dignity of all, especially the poorest, the marginalized and those discriminated against. Where do they find the strength to do this? I believe, it is in the Eucharist: in the power of the Risen Lord’s love, who today too breaks His body for us. By telling his disciples “do this,” Christ gives the command to repeat his own actions by which he gave us his own Body and Blood. During this pandemic, we should not be blind or indifferent to all those who have been physically, emotionally, spiritually, financially and mentally affected and who need a helping hand from us. May this feast help us to respond to Christ's command - an action to commemorate him; an action to give food to the crowds of today; an action to break open our faith and our lives as a sign of Christ’s love for our community and for the whole world. Dear friends in Christ, I take this occasion to thank each one of you sincerely for your contribution towards the building up of our Par-ish family, around the Eucharist. Thank you for all that you are and do, in small or big ways, with love, passion, dedication, self-sacrifice, joy and generosity. A very special word of thanks to all those who are part of the various ministries in our Parish and to those who walk ‘the extra mile’, giving a little more of their time, energy, resources to build up God’s kingdom in our community. May God bless you all! In Christ, Fr. Simon Manjooran
